Help. Stuck at station Exit 17

I'm stuck! I finally got my last citizen and Barney to the station after a hell of a struggle. I went to the room where Barney and Alyx wait. No citizens! Barney would only say something like 'get the citizens onto the train' and Alyx is just standing there. Searched everywhere for the people but the place was like a graveyard.

Is this a bug or are the citizens hidden somewhere?

Usually the citizens get on the train after Barney instructs them to. Alyx opens something and you wave goodbye to Barney.

Alyx stayed in the room the whole time and didn't come out and man the machine gun like the video shows. I've been back and taken the last group through again but still Alyx won't do her door thing!

If this was an AI_disabled problem he wouldn't have been able to get any NPC's onto the train at all.

@OP - sounds like something screwed up. Try reloading the whole level after seeing if validating your Steam files makes a difference.

maybe a physics object is blocking the path of some citizen who is programmed to get into the train.? thats what happened to me. one bloddy barrel was blocking the way of my citizens and it took me a long time to realize it.

Problem solved. I restarted the complete level and this time Alyx rushed out to man the machine gun and all went well. Oddly it all seemed a simpler this time round...seemed a lot fewer enemies but that's probably just my imagination.

Nice one. I always perform more shittily on subsequent retries - perfect first time round, but now whenever I redo it I get NPCs dying, bad pathfinding and all sorts.

I wasn't talking about a normal AI problem, either. I was talking about the AI problems associated with pirated copies.

Have you never heard of people with a pirated copy complaining "Alyx went over here and did this and then just stands there. She's supposed to do this now, but she won't move". Same with Citizens. "They all just stopped moving".

So with illegal copies, the AI is screwed or incomplete or something, and seems to just "switch off", judging from the help requests from pirates.

The "AI problems associated with pirated copies" ARE the AI_disabled problem. There is no 'just_a_bit_of_AI_disabled_but_not_all_of_it' setting. The AI turns itself off and everyone stops. Reread his post, as you're so fond of ordering everyone else to do. ONLY Alyx stopped moving, not any of the citizens or enemies, and he was able to carry on playing fine for a while after she stopped.

Granted, I have heard people say that it's possible to end up with some AI working and some disabled if you mess around with AI_disabled, but until I see a single instance of it reported somewhere, unlike you I won't be assuming that over the far more likely assumption; the fact that some NPC's kept on moving meant it was some other glitch, like Alyx getting stuck, a bad level load, or pathfinding or whatever. What the hell are you talking about? I don't have a pirated copy, so how could I make a demo of a piracy issue to show you, dumbass. You can't just disable the AI in a retail version, because that is not how the problem works in the pirated copies you knob. THEY HAVE BROKEN CODE IN THEIR GAME. I DON'T. Sometimes ALL the AI is working EXCEPT for an important character (in this case it would have been Alyx) just won't continue along and trigger an event that they are supposed to. You DO realise we're talking about the piracy problem, don't you?

I have heard ONE person mention ONCE that you can sometimes end up with some working and some non-working AI in pirated copies. I have NEVER, however, seen a first hand reported instance of this. FURTHERMORE, it seems far from unlikely to me that situation-dependent NPC AI scripts would sometimes fail to kick in even in the legitimate retail copy of the game. I have never seen an example of only HALF the AI failing due to a game being a pirate copy and invite you to link to a single example.

Mine was asked for here, and certain people keep asking more questions, and making bold, flawed statements about me and my comments, which I of course defended - although the IQ levels of some made it hard to get through to them. You however, were not a part of the conversation, and posted here ONLY to flame.
