After pre ordering my copy of Half life 2 a few weeks back, I found I had that itch that im sure all my fellow gaming brothers out there get when you know you've just got to blow a whole wad of dollars on upgrading your system, and you know thats what the moneys there for.

Therefore I upgraded my midrange system (P4 2.6, 1 Gig DDR RAM, Albatron 128Mb vid, 17 CRT and campbridge speaker system) which wasnt to bad to begin with but I couldnt help myself. I got greeeeedy real bad; I could tell this when my girlfreinds (Who also encouraged me to upgrade,(Sensibly so) Albeit she's eagerly awaiting the release of the Sims 2) eyes went wide after I came home with a whole stack of colourful boxes, after telling her I was "Just going out to have a look at getting a new hard drive".... Contents of those boxes now my new "beast" system. this comprises of [ P4 3.2 Gig, 2 Gig Corsair DDR, Sapphire ATI x800xt, 19 inch 12 Millisecond Benq Flatscreen, Logitech z-680, Abit IC7 MAX3 Mobo] How does that sound. I just hope ill be able run a full specs. Damn im waitin' in anticipation. just seeing Doom 3 and FarCRy at full specs made my financial GENOCIDE worth it. (And my mouth water)

see you all out in City 17 in mid November.

ooooooo man your gonna have a blast :D, nice rig

glares at geforce 3 ti 200 ;"<

I'm waiting for 5 ghz processors to come out before i upgrade...should be out sometime in 2005.

 Did you buy 4x512 or 2x1024 for memory, please say you did the latter.

nice, but you shouldve gotten an AMD procc. cheaper and faster.

nice pc id say but you didnt need the 2 gigs really. you made some good choices there.

Nice PC :). Youll be playing it on high detail with a VERY nice resolution

2 X 1024 of course. I know i dont really neeed 2 gigs, but like I said, I got greedy. and when De ShannO gets greedy, well, bye bye savings.

I also had to buy a 500 W power supply after I found that, while traversing the dark corridors of Delta Labs late last Saturday Night, (Small Note: Doom 3 is much better to play when you are caught in the middle of a raging thunder storm, complete with hail. i Nearly Shat my pant LOL)I tried to open my cd rom drive (dont ask me why I did this mid game) to find that my current PSU didnt have enough spare juice to even open it. poor thing limped out to half way then gave up LOL.....Hmmm maybe its all those fans n cathodes I got going, not to mention the x800....

I wouldn't get very excited yet. You could have a major compatibility problem or a component is faulty. It happens to me all the time.

Yup, should have stuck with AMD, 64bit is the future man. Otherwise, top system, hope you enjoy it

well...yeh, should run it OK

I probably would've gotten a AMD 64 Bit (FX-xx or 3x00) or waited for P4 3.4 ghz or so. Also, I would've gotten a nice Gigabyte nForce motherboard.

What h/d ?

Good choice in ram.

No really needs for AMD 64 bits proccessor now, when win 64 comes Intel 64 will be allready out and you can upgrade then. Thats what I'm going to do, buy 4 ghz 64 bits P4 :D

You'll be able to play the game on max settings on res 1600x1200

thats what I'm worried about with my new system.
its a 420W thats going to have two hard drives, one cd-rom type drive (for now, second one later), 3 lighting things, 7 fans connected through a hardcano unit, 6800Ultra, Athlon 64 3500+.

What watt power supply did you use that couldn't open the drive?
