When I was younger, I caught a pincer bug (you might also know them as earwigs). I was sitting outside next to a line of ants and, being curious as to what would happen, I dropped the pincer bug into the ant line.

They tore it to shreds. I was horrified and disgusted with myself. Even moreso later when I found out earwigs were peaceful vegetarian bugs.

To this day I can't bring myself to harm a pincer bug. If I find one I'll treat it with the utmost care to atone for my past transgression on their noble species.

Conversely, I'll squash the f*ck out of almost anything else, and I wreak untold havoc upon ants and anthives, because f*ck them, they're evil. True, unspeakable evil.

Technically they are animals, but they are fairly low on the food chain and ranking as far as animals are concerned. They are the gross species of the world.

Just because you find them to be gross doesn't make them less of an animal.

It's like this stupid chick in my class who is a vegitarian because she believes harming animals is wrong, but when I picked up a grasshopper I found in my school and tried to let it outside, she told me to kill it, and that it was okay to kill it because it was gross...........
That's like... speciest.
I am not saying I've never killed bugs, but that mentality is just plain hypocrisy.

Sometimes I will see as small a fly as I can imagine, and I will let it out or you know, not kill it. Other times I will find several flies in my house during summer and I will pursue them until I have won and their broken corpses lay on the windowsill to become mere playthings of my dog.


I actually hated earwigs, loved ants.

As it is I quite like spiders to, the only bugs I loath are the blood sucking variety. I once smacked a mozzy, and when I looked on my hand it was pulsating or something, and I figured it was trying to feed on me so thats where I learned my dislike of blood suckers (though not a fear).
