Ok, this is one of my 'rant' threads, so be warned.

There is a tiny island in the east sea (sea of Japan), that seems very insignificant. But its ours. OURS, you ****ing SOBs. Ahem.

Its called Dokdo.

It was taken by the evil imperialist Japanese goverment of the WW1/2 eras, when it annexed the Empire of Korea in 1910.

We claimed it back after 35 years of colonial rule. However, in the 1950 ~ 1960s, there were skirmishes due to their encroachment and killed some japanese people.

However, they are trying to steal it from us. They won't repent.

It has been ours since the 1600s and their main argument is that it wasn't on the list of surrendered terriotories at the end of WWII.

If they keep pressuring us, we must invade. If we manage to land enough troops via civilian cargo ships, we can be in control of Japan in just 8 months, due to our superior Army/ROKMC/Special Forces strenghth.

But anyway, they are tring to steal it from us, another show of their newly coming back of imperialist tendencies.

EVIL.

I'd like to ask, are you more upset about the fact that they're trying to take something that belongs to Korea (the ideology behind it) or the island itself? Because I can't see why anyone would want to fight over a tiny island. The idea that another country is taking your territory, sure, I can understand that. But if you think you should invade Japan just because, "It's OUR island!" well, that's sort of petty, I think.

Me, personally, I can't understand that point of view. I'm not a patriotic person to begin with, so if someone started contesting with America over some territory I'd likely to be like, "Meh." But if they started asking for more than that piece, that's another story. Is that what you're worried about? That they'll try to expand their control after acquiring Dokdo?

#1 It is a symbol of the sovereghty (sp?) of a nation to have complete control of its territories.

#2. It greatly widens our sea-terriotories.

#3. Yes. After Dokdo, what next? Jejudo? Seoul? The entire peninsula?

#4. Trying to take the island based on the argument that they never 'officialy' surrendered it means that they don't repent for their war crimes. Hate that attitude.

#5. There 'may be' some hydrogenates and natural resources under there.

EDIT: Oh, and by my logic no country is legitimate. The world is inhabited by groups of people who choose to categorize themselves based on their geography. Apparently that gives them the right to "own" part of the world.

EDIT2: to Dog-- What?! I was saying if they try to take your land, not just step on it. My situation would be if your neighbor came to your house and says its now his and point a gun at you. If you want to keep your house you need to fight him for it since he is claiming it.

I don't get why everyone is posting these "waah, waah" messages and "you fail" macros. Dog I hope you were just kidding about America and Canada being "better countries." You know I still think it's a bit silly wanting to defend an uninhabitable pile of rocks that one could only barely call an island, but for the reasons involved I think 15357's justified. And in light of how Japan has treated Korea in the past, it's certainly understandable that they'd want to "fight for every milimeter."

As I said, I'm not a patriotic person, and I'm also not the type to harbor grudges based on the past, especially between countries. I'm part Filipino and the Japanese invaded us once as well, but if they ever did it again I don't think I'd care in the slightest. However, I certainly understand where you're coming from.
