Yes, it's finally here. The long awaited Left 4 Dead update includes fixes, tweaks and new features as well as some enhancements to Versus mode for improved competitive play. Look below for the change list.[br]

General
  • Fixed Survivors being able to climb surfaces marked for versus infected only
  • Fixed a class of SurvivorBot bugs dealing with rescuing downed players
  • Players can no longer grab ladders while flying through the air after a Tank punch
  • Shooting near a car with an alarm that has already fired the alarm will no longer make chirping noises
  • Improved loading time
  • Fixed mini-gun physics exploit
  • Fixed propane tanks (and other physics objects) causing players to fall through elevators
  • Fixed rare achievement bug issues
  • Fixed several map exploits
  • Fixed various match making issues
  • Fixed NAT traversal issues

Versus Changes
  • Added HUD elements to show status of other infected players
  • Changed color of infected player name in chat to red
  • Fixed exploit where players could spawn infected bots
  • Fixed instance where a Survivor changing to the infected team would be attacked by infected bots
  • Normalized special infected melee damage
  • Made the following client commands cheat protected: "Kill" and "explode"
  • Fixed exploit where infected players could run away and teleport back to gain health
  • Players can only change teams once per map
  • Players can't change teams while other players are still loading
  • Tank spawns at the same % through the map for both teams in versus mode
  • Made the Tank and Witch spawn directly on the escape route
  • Increased chance of getting the Tank or Witch
  • Fixed team swap issue

Hunter
  • Easier to pounce a Survivor who is meleeing
  • Increased Minimum damage a Hunter pounce does

Smoker
  • Fixed Smoker tongue tolerance
  • Smoker now has to be killed or the tongue destroyed for the tongue to break
  • Survivor's cannot bash someone off the tongue until the Survivor being pulled is paralyzed or hanging
  • Tongue attacks that fail to paralyze or hang a Survivor will use the shorter ability delay timer
  • Fixed cases where the ability timer was not using the correct time
  • Fixed case where you could point at a Survivor but not register a tongue hit
  • Fixed Smoker tongue not targeting and landing properly through PZ ghosts
  • Smoker tongue does damage every second while dragging paralyzed Survivors

Tank
  • Bashable objects now appear with a red glow
  • Tanks hitting a car with an alarm disables the alarm permanently
  • Tank frustration timer is only reset by hitting Survivors with rocks or fists
  • Reduced autoshotgun damage against Tanks

Witch
  • Witch spawns at the same % through the map for both teams
  • Avoids spawning within a certain % of the tank
  • Fixed an exploit where the Witch could be woken up and tricked into attacking Survivors

About time for some smoker improvement. Dunno if I am in the mood to start playing L4D again though.

Sounds awesome but I wish we could play new versus maps. I was just playing the game on my 360 and there weren't any updates. Any word on when we can get them?
 
Just finished a round of versus with no ragequitters.

We lost but it's super fun.
The game has improved dramatically.
 
this changes to the bosses apply to singleplayer/coop too?

Anyway, is it just me or anyone else noticed a small performance loss? Also, load times... Yes, it seems that load times between maps has decreased, but the first time I launch a game it's taking longer now.

That web browser is really cool, and probably really useful, only I think it should have abs and a search function or something. Maybe bookmarks, and damn, support for the mousewheel. When you try to use the mousewheel it's tied to the browsers window, and not the page scroll(Notice the two scroll bars).

I can't play right now, gonna see better this changes later.

This is obviously bull shit. We just had tank discrepancies in our last Versus game... one round had TWO tanks spawn almost one after another- the next round, we had just one.

The % means that the tank will spawn at the same position of the map, not the same amount of times. I'm not overly sure how your game played out - if you actually finished or not - but depending on how well the other team is going it's to be expected.

That was such bullcrap. And another time we didn't get a tank at all when they did.
 
Think the problem is it spawns the same place, not time, time is usually dependant on how long the survivors take (or that's what I'd thought)
 
This is awesome, so much in one update. downloading it now then gonna try some versus.
 
Should make the infected more fun to play for me. Not keen on them atm.

that buff is bs, someone knocked it off and they werent paralyzed or hanging.
 
awesome news that they've improved smoker hits registering... i had three non-misses in a row the other day and had no choice but to ragequit.
 
They've also improved them not registering... I'm missing a little more now because it's more accurate, tears. :<
 
/sigh the melee exploit still hasn't been fixed. But overall an great update.
 
Tank

Thank **** for that. I'm tired of getting killed in 5 seconds by all of the survivors running backwards and shooting me with auto shottys, kills me way to fast.

great update... of course theres always gonna be people bithcin about everything without the smallest decency to be thankful valve did this...
 
I love this update. Just had a game on versus with a team still trying the exploit on the door in NM3. Needless to say they failed and we wiped them out while they kept trying over and over.
