Completely randomly my computer decides it would be super fun to restart :\. I recently clicked a link that I thought was harmless but it tried to install all sorts of crap and my virus scanner/wirewall went crazy and complained about a overload of viruses which it couldnt clean so went to quarentine so I just thought "bugger it" and deleted them. However that was yesterday I only recently have had problems. Save me!
Oh and before you ask I get no message saying that my computer will restart in 30 seconds or whatever ;(

Well, I don't really know bugger all about the subject, but if you XP what happens is when something buggers up, or is about to bugger up - XP restarts your computer to prevent damage. You can turn it off to see what's up - if there was a flicker of a blue screen of something.

Yeah I searched through help and found that. I use windows 2000 and it does the same thing.

I cant work out what the hell is wrong though. There is this mystery file called "mega2.exe" and i cant delete it (in safe mode or normal mode) since it says it is in use :(.

A summery and small update:

I went onto this link one day and found it to be a porn site and I got spammed with downloads and my virus scanner blocked about 10 of them. I quickly quit but then when i went onto IE ( I usually use Maxthon) it had this different site as home page.
It restarts automatically due to the fact that windows 2000 detects that there is a system failure. Ive disabled it and when it occured I got a message on how to fix it : it tells me to check that all my hardware and software are installed properly.

oh and my home page for internet explorer is some wierd site i didnt ask for.

For some reason ive been on the computer for some time now and there has been no problems it seems that when I do lots of processes at once it goes crazy + I havent closed msn messenger.

Guys...

If your computer restarts randomly that usually means a problem with the power supply or the RAM. maybe even the harddrive (disk thrashing)
i recommened trying a higher watt power supply or defraging/format the harddrive.

yeah if you read above you'l find I know why it is restarting : due to a system failure, windows 2000 at default automatically restarts your computer.

I disabled this and now I get this message:

Stop:c000021a (fatal system error)
The windows logon process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000080 (0x000000000x00000000)

blah blah blah...

Make sure new hardware / software are properly installed.
If problems continue, disable or remove newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

This occured when I went into spysweeper and then for some reason it went out of it. So I went back into it and then it went to the error message and then I had to press the reset button :(.

sounds like something with the harddrive...then again, it could be a virus
