I was on the Top Gear facebook group and was looking at the pictures posted and came across this:

i really love the design. It looks so menacing..wow i love it...only thing I don't like is the rims and even they aren't that bad looking.

i love it...i'd drive it any time...no one would want to mess with you in that car..it has such a "dont **** with me" design...

It's hot. A little tweek to the front, and it's perfect.. .the wheels are sweet, but kind of spiderman-ish IMO. I'd change that design too.

anyway, BMW is the one to watch right now. I was reading in a popular mechanics magazine they have developed something that harnesses the heat given off by engines to use it to help steam power the engine - like a supercharger, but with steam. Anway it's supposed to be like .. can't remember.. I'll just say like a 90% efficient engine. Meaning almost no wasted energy.

supposed to show up in cars within a year or two.. It's going to be awesome.. BMW stated that they need to work on lightening up the steam powered system, but eventually it should show up in their entire lineup.

I feel like framing the second image with "I R SRS CAR, THIS IS SRS THREAD."

But I won't.

I have some reservations with the front end, but otherwise I really like it. Much better than BMW's last "supercar" the Z8.

Unlike many people, I find most of BMW's new designs good-looking and interesting. The only ones I don't like are the Z4, 1-series coupe, and the 7-series before they updated it(which also happens to be Gabe Newell's car).

Hopefully they'll enter this M1 into racing like the original one. Most likely GT-class.

Looks like they took the worst aspects of a Mustang and Delorean and coated it in the gaudiest colour they could find. The wheels look like something a 12 year old designed for a flying car.

You said it. This car is trying way too hard.

Hmm...lol yeah, I forgot to mention the weirdass wheels too. But otherwise I still think it looks cool.

The wheels are similar to the original car that's why:

What's with slightly updating old classics anyway? It's just lazy and stupid and everyone seems to be doing it. 'New' Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, M1 etc etc

:frown:

Not really my cup of tea but it is interesting.

The copyright says "matteo" and I thought it said "mattel".

Well, in the case of the M1 and Camaro, they're more like modern takes on a classic design. But I see and partially agree with what you mean in the Mustang and Challenger, which are exact copies of their old designs with the minimum amount of changes required to meet modern safety laws(I still think they look damn good though).

I also like what Mercedes does: Their designs are completely modern, but they throw in little "easter eggs" which hint at their past:

See if you can spot the similarities.

Yeah, but that is more of a trademark design cue. Just like the two kidney grilles in BMW's

I don't think this car will go into production or anything, I think it's just a concept and will stay that way.

Well, BMW have been hinting at making a high-performance supercar for a while now, and they've been doing stuff related to the old M1(meetings, media clips, etc.) for the last few months, so I wouldn't be surprised if we see this concept or something resembling it go into production.

Not really, they only recently added those references to the old 300SL, and only to the SL-class.

It's pretty awesome looking, and very sexy, I just don't like it 100%....maybe 75%. Looks like a Lambo anal raped a Mustang.

i'm about 90%...I think it's just because of the whole menacing look about it. If they put it in production I hope they keep that look in the final design.

No word yet on the engine/gearbox etc.. hopefully we'll hear some news about them soon

EDIT: it also reminds me of the 8 series

Yeah, the aggressive look is the best feature about it. The rear end is where I start to fall off, unfortunately. I'm sure it's going to be one kick ass car anyway!
