You're likely to receive a lot of flak for apparently not using the search feature of the forums. You should attempt at least a cursory search of the forums for the answer to your question (and if you did, mention it in your post. The assumption is always that you didn't). Also the fact that you've resurrected an 'old' thread will get you the tar and feathers (the local SOP is apparently to make a new thread). In addition, your English may catch you some grief too. Even though this is the Internet, where mangling English is the status quo, your particular dialect is a little coarse. (You're not posting from a cell phone are you?)

In answer to your question (I think), I don't believe the Nihilanth is Combine at least because they don't have what it takes to get to Zen.

cheers for the heads up. ive never used an internet forum before i just stumbled across this perticular site whilst randomly searching info on the nihilanth and for some unknown reason in my half alseep half awake insomniac daze decided to post a concept which just happend to pop into my head randomly at that point in time. as for the text message typing i hounestly couldnt be bothered to spell out the full words. i didnt realise that was frowned upon.

Yes, that's fairly accurate, and I'm pretty sure Doug was restating something I'd told him; I [am not] clarifying it, since it's the foundation on which the series continues. What we saw in HL1 was the very end of a long struggle between the Combine and the last of the Nihilanth's race...although it's a bit different than the word "prompted" implies. The Nihilanth's "world" (if it could be said to have) was long since in the past as far as the Nihilanth was concerned; Xen was their final retreat, and they had their back to the wall, as it were, when the fissure appeared that let them spill into our dimension. Xen itself is sort of a dimensional transit bottleneck--an area of continual contention.

yeah man, im starting to understand this site now. i also understand how anoying it must be for a user whos been posting on this site for quite a while when new members show up and mess up how things work and post age old discussions. i was just hoping to see what every ones views on the whole possible nihilanth/combine realtionship are. maybe i should start a new thread about it? if its been done way to many times before let me know so i can save every one the hassel.
