Description
The Nintendo controller will feature a microphone and will store a user phonebook/address book while it will be used as a VoIP phone and will help gamers communicate while online without the need for a headset.

Nintendo's controller surprises keep coming in and as the details are revealed so is an underlying theme to the company's plan for the device. The new details mention a microphone built-in to the headset which will allow the controller to be used as a straight-forward VoIP phone. The news also mentions that users will be able to use the phone for video calls although it does not clarify exactly how a camera will come into play in the setup. The interesting news however, relates to the phone/address book details which will be stored on the controller suggesting that Nintendo expects each user of the Wii in the household to own their own Wiimote.

The inclusion of a microphone built-into the controller, along with the speaker announced at E3, will also offer gamers more freedom during online play as they will be able to communicate with fellow gamers without the need for a headset. This makes sense as most images we have of people playing with the infamous device, show them standing up and at some distance from the console.

Just when you think Nintendo has no more Wii related mysteries the company hits you with another one and this time it is the addition of Wiichannel.com to the list of Nintendo owned domains. Rumors of a Wii dedicated interactive channel that will carry animations, games and game trailers, TV shows and other audio/visual content have already started doing the rounds but as most of us have found the hard way, Nintendo is not playing by the book on this one; so expect nothing and anticipate everything.

Thats awesome!

Just wondering...whats your source? Cause there's no link. =p

I have 5 toughts:
1)awsome
2)backgroundnise is going to **** it up
3)awsome

I won't tell you what the last 2 toughts are.

(my source is a website that has cracks on it) Just googled it a bit, and it appears it's still a rumor originating from http://www.n-dimension.blogspot.com/ , sry I was just over exited.

Nintendo have really impressed me in the last couple of months.

Nintendo = win.

Who says Ps3 will be the only home machine?

So essentially, all three consoles are a gaming system first and foremost, but each doubles as something else:

PS3 = Game System + Blu-Ray DVD player

XBOX360 = Game System + add-on DVD player

Wii = Game System + Telephone

:O

Ooooh. Skype on a Wii. Awesome xD

Keep the features comming Ninty! :)

Wrong. Sony advertise the Ps3 as a home entertainment system with some gaming capabilities.

They say they advertise it like that, but honestly, who thinks the playstation is little more than a game console with a dvd player slapped on it?

Blue Ray player.

No they just advertise it as a home entertainment system, and the gaming is certainly not put in the backseat, as does microsoft, and nintendo is going in that direction too, the fact that one part of the controller looks like a remote control, infact they are doing the opposite of what most of yuo expect them to do.

And there is nothing wrong with a console having the ability to do mulitple things, just maximizes your value. It's just not fun when you have to pay a lot more money extra for something that doesn't make your gaming experience that much better, what the case might be for the ps3 if nextgen games really do not need that much capacity. I loved the ability of the psx to play Cd's, I loved the ability of the ps2 to play DVD's, if it can play ps2 games it doesn't really cost more then a nice software upgrade to play dvd's and it was a shame a cube could not do that.

Frankly, I am not really that hyped up about the Wii controller. Its features wont really lend themselves that well to the genres I enjoy the most and I really dont want to wave my arms around when I play games.

Although I might buy it if a fun game that is made to provide decent exercise becomes availible for it. The sheer boredom of exercising is what one of the many reasons I exercise to little.

It's also slated to function as a multi-purpose grill.

**** the Wii, I'm buying the ps3.
With this and ridge racer you can't go wrong.

Man, they are putting a ton into that Wiimote. Hope it all works and is fun and not just gimmicky.

And in all seriousness, if any of you have ever used a Foreman grill, you would not be making so much fun of it. The thing is one of the best household items I have!

They're going to run out of room if they keep adding shit on that remote...

Damn right. Slap a steak in there, some peppers, onions, and you're good to go :)

Excellent news, and yeah I heard the graphics they showed back in the E3 was not the final version of WII, its an emulated GameCube.

WII graphics is going to be SUPER

The controller is so kick ass.

Putting lemonking's mom in any picture makes it automatically funny, even if it's goatse. Actually, especially if it's goatse.

Oh god, don't make me

well, tbh, even I wouldn't go that far. It would be hilarious... until the mods gang-raped me with the blunt ends of their bansticks :o

Film it - replace you with Lemonkings mum, and you have another hillarious picture!

Playstation 3 thinks it's God's gift to mankind
Xbox 360 thinks it's a computer
Wii knows it's a mother f*cking games console

So true Rimfire.
I assume the Wii has a little pre-game console menu. Does anyone have pictures or videos of it? I've seen Sony's wave one, I think I may have seen the 360's, but not the Wii.

Haha. I'm hardly a Nintendo fanboy, I don't even have a Gamcube, DS, or Advanced.

You missed the goddam point.
1) Tt's meant against all fanboy's, he even says it himself, and on the comments page people have intelligent counter comments.
2)It's not the fanboy thing that applied to you. Although this forum in general might want to take notice
3) it's what you said about the Wii, that it knows what it is.

7. Nintendo Doesn't Want You.

Look at the controller again, compared with a current control pad:

tinycontrol.jpg

First of all, it's freaking tiny. Those proportions up there are correct. Go grab a GameCube controller and contemplate how freaking tiny this thing is.

Secondly, the GC had seven buttons for gameplay. The Rev controller has four (if you include the "nunchuck" attachment). The current controller has two analogue sticks, the Rev controller has one.

It is a mathematical fact that fewer buttons means less freedom for the developer to let you control the on-screen action. There's no way around it. I'm not saying you can't make fun games with it - I'm sure Nintendo can. But they'll be simpler games. Entry-level games.

But, you say, with the Rev controller, you can tilt it around. In Red Steel they say, "...jumping over or taking cover behind objects is done simply with a flick of the free-hand unit, and reloading the gun is performed by pulling back on the controller."

Of course, that means that with any Revolution game you'll have to hold the controller perfectly level in your hand, or else your character will inadvertently stop to reload in the middle of the action or go diving behind something at an inopportune time.

Not a Revolution screenshot

That means a lot of uncomfortable fatigue in your wrists if you plan on playing all night (try holding your TV remote in front of you, keeping it level, for three hours). And that isn't a problem for the Rev target audience. It's not designed for people who play hours a day. It's designed for people who don't generally like to play games and get bored with them quickly. It's for the Freecell crowd.

But wait, you say. Think of all the new, innovative ways the controller can be used! Okay, let's ask Gamespot:

"We're used to pressing buttons in a certain sequence to cast a line in a fishing game, but on the Revolution, expect to pull the controller back and then whip it forward in a real casting motion to get that line out. It's this kind of gameplay that will make the Revolution completely different from the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3."

And later:

"A variety of potential game-usage scenarios were shown at TGS. One involves a fishing game, but instead of pushing a button or moving an analog stick, with the new Revolution controller you could cast a line by flicking your wrist. Basic games such as air hockey can get a boost from the new controller design as well."

Here's a tip from a long-time gamer: if a new console is continually mentioning how well it can do fishing games, it might not be designed with hard-core gamers in mind.
The point is that nintendo more then sony and MS are making this a machine for non gamers, half of the controller is dammed remote.

Actualy, when I first clicked the article it came up blank so all I had to respond to was the URL :P
