Noooo!!

You'd have to be living in a cave to be suprised
Expect a Winter 2007 release

ok i just read the interview and

Eurogamer: Episode Two is out in Q1 next year now, right?

Doug Lombardi: Yes that's right.

is whats said, no where in that interview do they say summer next yr, god knows where that info came from at eurogamer

heres the interview link if anyone else wants to check it out, good interview

There wasn't an interview for that article, halem.

Personally I won't believe it until there's further confirmation from Valve itself.

wait wait wait

You actually expect a Valve product to ship when they say it will with no delays
:|

how can you forget the September 2003 release date that never was ;)

Oh no, not that. D:

I still won't believe it yet anyway; PCGamer announced shite about Episode Two's release date, which Valve deemed untrue.

OMG CONSPIRACY TIME

Valve announces delays so that they can release early and surprise their fan-base.

Valve is secretly plotting to slowly kill gamers by making them view FANTABULOUS media and yet never releasing it.

The team at Valve are just being dicks and having rave parties while everyone else suffers.

Interesting stuff. Judging from the gameplay videos they've already got the gameplay and art assets nailed, but I'm guessing in typical Valve fashion they feel they want to tune it up to another level. The good news is that Episode 2 is going to be of pretty damn high quality; the bad news is the longer the wait.

Still, safe bet to say I'll have nothing on in the Summer time.

I'm not surprised by this latest development, and I'm really not bothered.

I could've sworn that said living in a crate the first time I read it.

oh my god
this cant be !
a delay !
from valve !!

THIS CANT BE !!

Good. I got the the impression they were still considering how much to put in the shipped version TF2 and what to leave for the updates.

You have to remeber it's 3 games.

More bad news that will likely turn out good. Why couldn't Gothic 3 have been delayed a little longer???

I'll be sad the day when there's a Valve game released without delays. And that's not sarcasm. It's also not because of Valve taking time to tune things either; I've just gotten used to the delays and view them as an important part of Valve's release schedule. I wonder if Valve ever feels that way too...

I still cannot understand why people piss themselves when a game gets delayed...

They are also launch episode 2 on ps3 and 360 at the same time so you gotta think it might be because of either of those causing the hold up aswell.

This episodic content is turning into complete horse shit. A 4 hour episode every 12-16 months. No thanks. I would rather wait 4 years for 15-20 hour game with newer tech.

Wow, that was pretty unexpected. I realize a delayed Valve product equals a better Valve product, but still... it's going to be like a year after Gordon wakes up from the train crash :D

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY LIFE IS OVER!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
(come on it is an episode surely it can't take that long?)

The uninformed is so much fun. Ontop of creating Episode 2, TF2, and Portal. They are porting HL2 Episodes 1-2, TF2, Portal and a few other things to the 360 and PS3(EA is doing this part tho), if you don't think that takes time then, well I suggest you join a developer and find out.

1) It is still an episode and 2 games
2) I was referencing the funny flash video of when HL2 was delayed that was on planet half life

Agreed, this is really getting old & imo it needs to stop. They need to stop with their flip flop release dates. Valve should stoping making lame n' fake release date. For once keep a promise, damn it.

This really gets my goat. I said ok with a Q1 since its not that far away, but common SUMMMER release... thats popostious!!! it's getting old. :|

I feel like my hope has been given up. I can name a million developer corportations that can at least have a possible prediction of a release date. *Don't take it literally*

Why can't valve ever have realistic release date. :flame:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!*darth vader like*

I agree, wasn't the idea originally to have an episode each six months?

Would you prefer Valve stuck to a release date and rushed the game for the Christmas season and then having a half-finished game full of bugs? Would you want HL2:EP3 to be on par with Enter the Matrix?

I'd rather Valve give accurate release dates instead of setting them too early and having to push them back. I'd rather no set release date at all then to have them give us one too early.

Waiting 1 year for 5 hours, or wait 3 years for 15 hours... If you want a giant release that bad, why not just wait to buy the episodes until they're all released? Either way, you're still waiting the same amount of time for the same amount of game.

I would rather if Valve for once sticked to a realistic release date for once. It's just old & im getting too old for this sort of thing. HL2 was in development for several years, thats rediculus. Valve keep lying through their teeth, for once tell me an accurate release point Valve.

This summer release is kinda O.o wtf? but I could see a Spring release since its near my Birthday April 13, 1988; but common Summer. You know what, Im not going to assume Valve is going for a summer release; I strongly expect either a Fall 2007 release or a Q1 2008 release for Ep2. Episode 3 will release in 2010 in the summer & HL3 will release in 2025 in the fall. Guarenteed.

Also there is nothing more buggy than Battlefield-2.

OK, so your choices are: Valve tells you a release date of, say, March 7th, then backsup and says it should be avaliable November 20th.

Or: Valve tells you straight off it's avaliable November 20th.

Or even better: Valve tells you something completely unrealistic, like "It's going to be released Febuary 3rd of next year", then rolls it back to November 20th.

Please note that all dates are made up, becuase i can't be bothered right now finding accurate dates and whatnot.

I like the idea of not having a release date until they offer preloads. Then we can all log onto steam one day, and be pleasantly surprised.

I don't know why, but I found this very amusing.

Yes, that would be nice.

I would prefer Valve didn't claim they had a fixed date when they anticipated the game to be completed, and then change their mind and say they need TWICE as much time. That's not off by a little, that's off by a lot.

This is where I lose interests in the 'Episodes' for the moment. If it is released in Summer, Episode 1 was released one year ago. Episodic content releasing wasn't that fast? They should just put them to one game..

I think you are all getting confused between an actual year, and a fiscal year. Most of these release dates are based off of the fiscal year. And in the US, quarter 1 starts in October.

Eh. Wasn't that un-expected.

I'd be sorta pissed, (4 hours gameplay = 14 months) but they are shipping Portal and TF2 at the same time. So I don't blame them.

Wouldn't October be Quarter 4?

Because if October was Q1, then it would be October of 2007 when in the beginning they did say they would be releasing them every six months or so. So that wouldn't make sense. They said Episode 2 would be released later this year (October, November, or December) and then changed it to Q1 of 2007 which would be January, February, or March. But now that they changed it to summer. That is probably going to be late Q2 (June) or Q3 (July, August, or September).

Q1 - Jan, Feb, March
Q2 - April, May, June
Q3 - July, August, September
Q4 - October, November, December

Is that right? or am I completely wrong? 4X3=12, 4 quarters, 3 months each.

And they did say that Episode two would be longer. At least by an hour or two. So thats like 5-6 hours.

By planning a summer release thats really going of their original plan, it makes the episodic idea irrelevant because its supposed to be released every 6 months or so.

Valve is gong to realise there is no point in going for episodes because its taking 20 months just to release it. An expansion pack should NOT take a year to develop. Its time they go back to full HL releases, all this just shows is the failure of episodic releases.

I think it's stupid to hold up the PC release because the ports are taking longer. I don't know if thats the reason, but its one that some of you have suggested. If that is the cause, it's stupid. Why must all versions be released at once? Isn't the very idea of a port that it is released later?

...or something.
