It's called Soongryemoon, or Namdaemoon (Southern Great Gate).

1897

1930 - Japanese occupation

1953 - Korean war. Gate was hit by 122mm artillery rounds, but survived.

2008 - Gate was most likely burned down by some bastard with gasoline.
This gate survived half a millenia's worth of barbarian invasions, riots, revolutions, even the Japanese invasion and occupation, as well as North Korea and China's artillery bombardment.
And one mother****ing bastard burns it down in 5 hours.
