Maybe they're just saving more for Expansion pack content.

That would be the most cruel sadistic marketing ploy ever... You'll end up with Elder Scrolls: Open for Business or University plus a million other expansions next D:

WHEN DOES THE HORROR END!?

When we stop taking shit from Greedy Devs and stop buying their games?

Don't Bethesda use the same Mod-style as Morrowind? I mean isn't the construction kit just an upgrade from TES3?
Erhm, the CS will be pretty restrictive..
Such as no ability to add new skills, new player animations etc..
We'll have to see if it'll be able to be modded in..
Anyway, I thought we were discussing the OFFICIAL Bethesda mods that were cost, and since you said torrent I assumed you meant you were gonna try to pirate'em, and I simply pointed out that Bethesda has stated that they'll use an elaborate protection system(It's rumoured to involve having to go online and authenticate the mod), but we'll have to wait and see.

And no.
The horror ends when everything in the world is free and it doesn't cost 3,000,000 United States Dollars for a MINIMAL commercial game budget..
Aslong as game development costs keeps rising, the game devs will sadly have to keep on finding new ways to squeeze every single penny out of the consumer in order to not go bankcrupt.

That's why I play/use ALOT and I mean ALOT of open-source software!

What i'm worried about... is what if we stop playing the game for a long time, having uninstalled it from our computers... will we have to rebuy all the mods? Or will there be some easy, safe way to ensure that players who bought stuff will be able to use it for eternity?

Raziaar, I think it will use some form of online authentication system.. Say that, mods are tied online to that copy of the game..
So, say your game has a serial number, XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX, and you buy the mod, it'll be tied to that game, so aslong as you install that specific copy of the game, those mods'll be free to you..
Or atleast something like that.. But yes, you raise an important question.

Tying it to a serial number sounds like a bad idea, then you could share your serial with someone else and they'd be able to download it...

Edit: Will be interested to see how they will do it.

Warez and pirating isnt allowed here...so you better run before the mods finds you!

No one even mentioned anything illegal. :|

indeed. Luckily I was very vague as to what I'd torrent...

But the official mod protection sounds insanely annoying. I thought bethesda were one of the good guys :\

More of one thing, less of another - quit whining & nitpicking! It's going to be an amazing game!

dekstar.. Errmm.. You are aware, that if people like you DIDN'T DECIDE to pirate the mods.. then they WOULDN'T have to put in a copyprotection?
So partly you have only yourself to blame, not Bethesda..
And sure, Bethesda are trying to squeeze cash out off us, but that's also because game dev prices are rising alot as they have to put more and more manhours into games, they thus have to pay for bigger salaries etc..
In the end, the biggest badguy is "money" I guess.. But in the end, money is what keeps the society running and functioning.

It's not really a choice people make... it's more of an eventuality.
