I wish someone would prove how much it costs to produce 1 CD and factor in the production costs of the actual musicians over the millions sold. What we have to do is un-justify the outrageous prices they charge , thats why people dont pay. Thats why people dont pay 400$ for 1 friggin program (Photoshop)

IP blockers are only a temporary fix that doesn't work all the time. as the site says, if they're using a new IP, you're dead.

And if I'm using a firewall(Agnitum Outpost Firewall 2.0) are they still able to acces my conp? I think not. Correct me if i'm wrong.

since anyone on the p2p network can see your files, so can the RIAA.

If I was the parents of that 12 yr old girl who got charged id be raising a holy stink. Id make it a PR nightmare for the recording industry. Its already turned my opinion against them , even if I know its illegal its still BS to charge a 12yr old girl.

They just wanna hold some summary prosecutions to scare people into deleting all of their MP3s.

Eh, I suppose you have a point, but, quite frankly, we live in a society that's obsessed with pop culture icons. It'll be hard to make much of a blemish against them unless you find them having an affair with so and so, or seen handing money to Saddam Hussein himself. If you can find that kinda stuff, then we're gold.

I find it quite amusing that they are trying to sue someone who cannot legally own an internet account.... and shooting themselves in the foot in the process... If they come to the UK, I'm gonna kick up so much of a fuss... I'm serious (even though my policies on mp3s are 'special' to say the least)... PR nightmare indeed ^_^

I also use Kazaa++, so between the two I feel fairly secure. (I don't spend all day on Kazaa or anything.)
The biggest problem with the RIAA is that they're attempting to turn 60 million people into criminals. (Obviously not all of them are in-country, but they dont know that till they look you up). When it becomes that much of a problem something different has to be tried. I love Canada's situation:

What the RIAA does not realize is that the action they are taking is quite possibly the worst way to handle this whole "music piracy" thing.

What we will soon see will be very reminiscent of what occured when marijuana was banned in the states.

Did that stop people from smoking pot that wanted to smoke pot? I Think not.

People will download mp3s anyway. No matter what.

If they want them- they can always download them.

And if they can't download them, they will buy them. Illegally. Cheaper.

After all, If marijuana was not illegal, many drug dealers would be out of business.

After all, There is a market for everything illegal.

My solution? Develop and easier way to buy music.

They are developing easier ways to sell music, but the people doing it to actually help, wont get anywhere because the big guys who just want money will push them out of the way.

I say valve should start putting music on Steam!

Actually, once it becomes more feasible, I'm going to sign up to a site where you pay a subscription fee and download music all you want.

I would very much consider legally buying music online provided that:
1) They had a selection at least comparable to Kazaa (difficult, but I love using P2P to find very obscure tracks)
2) No restrictions on what you can do with it. If its mine I can burn it as much as I like, just like a CD.
