HL2.net I'm going to Poland!!

Albiet not for another year but stil, for a friend's ordination :D Does anyone here live in or has been there? I was wondering if someone could suggest some places to visit. I've already got some of the Nazi death camps on my itinerary but that's not gonna be too cheerful.

Also, I'm going to take a two day side trip into Slovakia to go mountain hiking with a friend.

:bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:

I'm Polish.

And that's all I have to say on the matter.

Krakow is apparently beautiful according to my Polish friends here in Dublin. Accordingly to them also, Warsaw(the capital) isn't as nice, very built up f.e. Krakow is very classic, nice architecture etc. I want to go sometime.

Hey I'm going to Ireland for St. Patty's day!

Vageta, I'm sorry.

Also, skaadi, I think you'd be better coming up to California. *wink wink nudge rip*

Wisniowka or something. More likely Russian than Polish though, I think.

I dare you to goosestep off the plane when you get there.

Well I haven't been to Poland but my parents went there 20+ years ago. They visited Krakow and they also visited the camps. From what they described "not too cheerful" is an understatement. The place is downright sinister. From what my dad told me there were plenty personal possessions left there, clothing even toys. So you could tell that entire families lived and died there.

I thought this was going to be a thread about how the OP just realized that Poland is actually pretty big, larger even than Texas.

When you cross the street, be sure to look both ways for blitzkrieging Germans.

As everyone said Krakow is a great place. I lived there until I was 8 but I lived in a small village so I never really saw much of anything there. If you like to drink from time to time get some of the polish vodka there. My dad knows all about that stuff, I'll see if I can get a hold of him later.

Why is it such a big deal that I'm Polish? Perhaps you all misunderstood, I don't mean I LIVE in Poland, I mean my last name is Spikowski and I'm of Polish heritage. I live in America and eat Polish sausage, pierogi, and pączki on occasion. And that's literally all that is significant about me regarding the fact that I'm Polish.

Yep. He's white-bread American smeared with a little polish sausage grease.

hey Kwalski, kocham cie!

actually i lie, having several polish girlfriends have taught me to fear the pollocks

Who's making a big deal out of it?
A bigger deal than I expected "Oh really? I never knew." It's just my nationality, what's so special?

Yes, I'm Polish American, I suppose that's what I should have said. But I thought everyone knew I was American anyway.

I also don't know a word of the language, or anything else about Poland. I probably would have trouble pointing it out on a map.

poland is that country whit fat cows and blonde girls and sausages?

hey Kwalski, kocham cie!
Its "Kowalski", get it right. (that happens to be my last name so I am familiar with how to spell it.

I can't get myself to fear such sexiness. ;)

Considering I'm Polish I think there's nothing unnatural in being interested who's from Poland here.

What's with the insecurity? High five, countryman!

But I'm not nearly as cool as someone who actually lives in Poland ;( I'm a disgrace!

Oh, when you said you're Polish, I assumed you lived in Poland :p

I thought you lived in the USofA.

Mikael Grizzly's Polish. Angry Lawyer's grandparents are Polish. No other Poles that I know of.

I'm ukrainian. Poland is much like the rest of eastern europe except with more pollution and with more influence from western democratic cultres.

Very pretty in summer though.
