Post your latest music tracks/WIP's and comment!

Hey guys, I entered project 168 as Xenocrates and it just finished.
Made an EP with 5 tracks, most of which are experimental drill n bass.
P168 is a community thing where you make an EP for a week, it hasn't happened for 3 years so this was pretty big, some big artists have entered in the past, rumours are some big ones took part this time... It was pretty crazy, slept 3-5 hours on average a night to bust shit out in ableton.

The album will be up soon at:

Just rolled this out in one sitting, there're a few rough edges but I'm quite pleased with it.http://soundcloud.com/kine/music

Left some comments on it. Keep it up!

'Nova Caustica'

The only track in a long time that features prominent piano, because I can't 'do real music'

I like your stuff, get a proper host man!

Love this shit!

Layr is pretty addictive. I like.

Here's one I've been working on

Finish the ****ing song, it's got a lot of heart. A keeper for me, regardless if you finish it or not. What program did you use? Reason? I'd love to take a shot at buffing up the song/remixing it.

Really good, keep them coming.

Have you tried to do vocals before?

My favorite kind of stuff is really humble and sparse vocals; like a couple of low volume lines in the middle of the song during a drumless section or something.

In my opinion, there is nothing worse than a vocalist who is too confident or whatever, and his vocals are the loudest parts of the song, and he drones on annoyingly or repeating the same thing over and over, especially when he is interrupting the lead guitar who is going off at the moment.

I tried vocals with where is the angel and nova caustica, but I'm not too sure about the quality. This won't defer me from practicing though.
Thanks a lot for listening anyway and I will definately look into adding lyrics.

Neptune that's ****ing awesome.

I've got about 10 new tracks. Here are two of them:

'Burnt' & 'Starve' are the new ones, unfinished mind you. Starve is just screwing around near the end

Awesome man!! Love all these tracks!
What did you use on the heavy bass on Burnt? Also Awesome bass lines!

That track is the result of too much work, especially doctoring the samples. I had to splice and dice to give it variety because of my limited amount of samples.

I'm getting better at this style of music, and I added all kinds of variation to the drum patterns. I kinda wanted to showcase some things. :)

it was supposed to be a really long instrumental, like a classic Metallica song, but I ran out of ideas. I think I'm going to make it about a minute shorter. In fact, in the working file, it's called Burton, after the original bassist for Metallica. I'm going to change it back.

You know you have these melodies in your head, or if you start making a tune by humming or something, and you can take it any direction you want. I need that freedom, but with instruments. Maybe one day I'll get my own guitars.

I'm glad you like what I can do so far. More to come.

BTW, I really can't believe how good 'How I Feel' came out. I think I've said it before, if you keep it up, and pursue it, you can make it in the music business. You are good enough, but it won't come knocking on your door, you have to go after it. Do you have any plans yet?

:Knock Knock:

Hi, how's it going. How would you like to be a rock star?

lulz
I wasn't very optimistic about that track at first because I posted it on ultimate-guitar forums and the first guy to post said it was boring and U2ey. I'm glad I'm deprived of most mainstream music to not actually know what U2 sound like these days. :p
We should collaborate on a track sometime.

Your track inspired me to get my bass guitar out, it was fun. I'm normally too lazy and just bash out some generic shitty synth bass :p
This happened:
'Cinder'

^ Agreed, that track is really nice. Melody is simple but it sounds great.

I love the bass in Cinder, too.

Can't get myspace or soundcloud to work. Oh what have I done. Some plug-in problem I suppose

NeptuneUK - Cinder sounds really cool... Like Pink Floyd IMO. Personally, I love those kind of 'bass leading' atmospheric songs a lot. One of my favorite types.

You shouldn't put that one on the shelf. I think when you get more time you can make it a bit longer.

See, what I've been thinking lately, is that you don't want to end a song as long as you can keep it fresh and interesting. I mean, you put all that work into the selection of samples and getting everything right. All that work - it's like constructing and setting up an entire stadium for a concert where you only play one song and go home. You got everything set up, might as well rock out for a while.

For example, if you've heard a live performance of a song where the lead guitarist goes on for several minutes without stopping - the drummer and the bassist just keep it going - its absolutely mind blowing

With a song like Cinder, keep going, changing little things here and there, then go back to what you were doing in the beginning, then back to some new stuff, etc. It's only a minute long. I'd like to see it at least 2.5 or 3.5 minutes. Remember to do some parts with no drums, just atmosphere, to refresh, so it's like beginning again when the drums come back.

And yeah, we can collab. I've had people bring that up before, but it never happens. What exactly did you have in mind?

attempt at some analogue tuss style
http://chimera.headfoam.net/various/analogshit.mp3

psychedelic middle eastern inspired track. think idm goes black hawk down soundtrack, lol.
http://chimera.headfoam.net/Xenocrates/xenocrates - yalla haywan.mp3

Xenocrates gets really interesting about mid way. I love the guitar that comes in then

It reminds me of this experimental track I did a few months ago.

I think it will mess with your mood.

I just named it Vood.mp3 - 1.72MB

i went to a studio and did some psychedelic shoegaze which is unfinished..
but i did a quick litte rap attempt to some dnb. fun as hell even though it sucks.
bass guitar is also played by me

http://chimera.headfoam.net/various/MC Moses - mad rap.mp3

lyrics:
yo, this aint the shit that he dreams, he sees
his ****ing reality rip at the seams,
he seems clean but he's polluted by scenes, MCs
know all about it, he's out to do schemes,

this means war, he's definitive, he's a machine
he angry, mean, but he's just a teen,
already packing heat, in these dirty jeans
out to get blood, whose will it be?

the battle starts and it's a massacre, the ambassador,
says this kid heard too many rap records, a caricature
but no one listens, fires back at her, her character
is lacking and they know it, so they crack her

she's wrong, truth is he had too many deamons
ghosts of dead boys, haunting him in the evenings,
until he decided life had no meaning, not even
getting two girls for double teaming
