Rattman?

1. I wonder how the Rattman survived and managed to make new dens after the the facility went to hell after GLaDOS was killed?
2. When GLaDOS was offline why couldnt the Rattman find the time to escape but instead made new dens?

Help with these questions would be great.
And if I overlooked something, let me know.

Was Valve not drawing the rest of the comic, so that we know what happend to Rattman after he awakes out of stasis?

It seems possible that single-player DLC maps released by Valve may have us playing as Rattman, either in the time period between Portal and Portal 2 (no GLaDOS dialogue required then), or sometime after Chell has left in P2.
