Rebels Donning military Clothing?

Since the rebels are now REALLY at war with the combine and there new base is an old military missile silo I think it would be cool to see the rebels start wearing real military clothing. It would show that they really mean business and are ready to kick some ass :D

I doubt there would be enough uniforms just lying around to have for a decent amount of rebels.

I agree. I don't think anyone could take them seriously if they're not in military uniform.

They're -rebels-. Rebels don't, by convention, have uniforms. Also... setting up the rebellion as an army-thing sort of cheapens the effect, IMO. People are no longer so much fighting for their planet – expressing "the human spirit", as Kleiner likes to say – as being told what to do.

Also, by the way: "donning", "missile", and "business".

As above. Honestly, why the military bullshit - you wear what you can find, what is comfortable, and what helps you survive.

No time for three stripes bullshit.

let's say there are around 70000-100000 rebels in total as of now(that is, if they're all fighting as they are). So getting that many uniforms would prove quite difficult for a rebel army that has no factories to even produce one.

Pish posh. Were talking about a rag tag human resistance who are operating on a strict time limit. They don't have time to deck out in silly military uniform. And, it's kind of a cliche, isn't it? :p

Well, they already have some kind of Uniform - the Standard Citizen Jeans, a combine Protective Vest and a Watch Cap.

It would be cool to see a Rebel Leader sporting a Beret though.

There should be atleast SOME , not all maybe 3-4 with camo on...

I dont see how them wearing army outfits indicates that they are ready to kick serious ass anyway

So you think it is a good idea for Valve to spend their time and money adding another skin for the rebels that you will only see a handful of times and that really adds nothing.

Nah. The best materials on the planet are in Combine Uniforms and HEV suits. I want to see more of them worn by Rebels, I'm surprised we haven't yet seen them (well, aside from the fact that the chest pad of the Combine Soldier is pretty all-encompassing and it'd be easy to mistake rebels for soldiers: I like the 'painted lambda' variation in RtB enough though).

Most will turn their nose up at HEV suits, but I don't see why someone - rebel or combine - wouldn't have been rounding these buggers up from either Xen or Earth for their purposes. They're very impressive machines, and they'd been around for at least four 'marks' by the time of Half-Life. Get those protagonists some Mark IIIs!

I'd say the only place to get them would be Xen, and willing volunteers would most likely be few and far between.

HEV is trademarked on the chargers, and they were everywhere in Black Mesa. I see no reason why they wouldn't have been marketed and sold to other companies within the same and in different industries during the lifetime of a machine that has gone through four seperate revisions. Considering how the number of HEV suits in Xen outnumber those on earth by about 3 to 1 during Half-Life, wouldn't it have made more sense to manufacture the Mark IV with the long jump module as non-optional if they were only intended for use in that facility? I'd say the fact that it was optional indicates that the suit was to be sold to people who weren't interested (or aware) in Xen.

AND in reference to you quoting yourself,

Silos only have military clothing from security guards, the only other suits silos'll have are haz-mats, which do nothing for camo, and the last thing a rebele needs, is a heavy mask, and baggy suit. I'd like to see where I'm going.

I don't know why, but i've just visioned Adrian Shephard.

Yes, because it's Valve. Dude! They even have a warning sign on ove of the Combine Soldiers' gasmask valves!

Valve COULD do it, but it just wouldn't fit the mood they have already set out for the rebels. If you'll notice, rebels wear torn civillian clothing. instead of professional gear. The only part they could really get away with using camo is in forest scenes and in wild areas.

I like the idea that in ep2 there would be some remnants of earth militia from 7h war who had started to fight guerrilla war in countryside. Of course these remnants would be far away from organised military but they could still have some military equipment like old uniforms and one rusty t-55 tank.

T-55 in 2020? T-80 or T-72 is more realistic.

Not to mention, Ophiguris, that the style would definitely get amplified with elements of combine Overwatch equipment worn by the rebels.

Yeah, THAT would be cool.

I'd like to see some classic APCs from like HL1 and some M1-A1 tanks... oh wait, those are american, and HL2 is in Europe! Damn, they should definitely have some old German Tanks.

I think that rebels in Overwatch armour would make sense (and it'd be great, if they had more health than the others)

In the betas, there were uniformed rebels. Seen the model somewhere.

One big thing that I left out of my post is that I would only want some military clothed rebels mixed in with the normal rebels. Not having all the rebels dressing in military clothes :O

Yeah, that clears up alot, and makes some more sense.

It would be nice to see like an elite armoured rebel, but, you need implants and surgery and such, more or less, I think the rebels just want a quick loot, go in, kill, loot anything of value, continue on. You know what I mean?

The Armour is not surgically attached to the soldier. It just takes a whole lotta time to take it off, unlike the MetroCops' vest.

The large pads the soldiers wear on their front probably don't take any longer to take off. In fact, they're probably easier to take off as they're two-part and strapped around the soldier, as opposed to an over-the head or zip up vest.

Then, which Combine soldiers are synths, Because I know that civillians are taken to Nova Prospekt for (as told in hlcomic.com) surgical implantaion.

Then, which Combine soldiers are synths.
No Combine Soldiers are 'Synths'. They're 'Posthumans' (or 'Transhumans'). Synths are grown as they are, their armor is part of their bodies. Posthumans just wear armor which can be taken off. The impants don't connect them to their armor.

That armor actually resembles the K-10 (iirc) combat vest. Except no plates at the front.

From what I've heard, it's bulky, hot, heavy, and blocks everything.
