I saw a disgustingly horrible chopped off cancerous breast with nipple included.


A technology like this needs to be not bought up by one company, but invested in by all companies(with him getting all the money he needs for his cancer research). You can't have one company with a monopoly on this type of technology if it is even feasible.



So if I build something like that large enough and aim it at the ocean, can I light it on fire? That would be awesome! I would build a doomsday device to light up giant swaths of ocean and heat the planet up some more!

Maybe he meant like, elemental, as in earth, water, fire and wind. Heh... rather than the chemical elements. :P
 
I wonder if it produces enough of a "kick" to actually move the cylinders *or rotors*? It may catch fire, but there is a reason we can't just throw XX flammable liquid into our gas tanks and call it good.
 
The energy emitted from the radio frequency generator will be more than the energy produced from the burning salt water. However this appears to be a way of splitting water into oxygen and hydrogen without a platinum catalyst.
 
^ Which will help the whole hydrogen engine more. Really, it's not a GREAT idea for an engine, imo. Too many things working against it. Maybe this whole idea could push it further ahead?

i was just about to say that. nobody realizes that there must be energy to make the radio waves that split water.

remember guys...water is not a fuel source...but it's an method for storage it. but even as a storage medium it's pretty bad since it requires alot of energy to be split up, due to the hydrogen bounds.
 
Sadly, it's going to be hard -> impossible to counteract that energy required. We can probably do the best we can, but Hydrogen is just a bad way to head for the 'next fuel source'.
 
Yes it is cool, yes it is a possible treatment for cancer, but no, it can never be a fuel source. We have these things in science called the laws of thermodynamics. They're pesky bitches, but we love them anyway. The amount of energy used to power the microwave MUST exceed the amount of energy that you would get from the burning hydrogen/oxygen mixture. You would get more energy simply by using the electricity from the microwave generator to run an electric motor.
 
Yeah I was shocked at this when I first saw the evening news on the cancer bit. i was like "wtf put it out now! Don't wait for the FDA to get more money and test for a decade!". This is all new to me though. Wouldn't it corrode the lines though, such as the gas tank? They could make it stainless steel of coat it with paint though. Hmmm. :eek:

I think it has something to do with the resonance frequency of the bonds in water. When the frequency generator applies energy at a frequency equal to the resonance frequency of the bonds in water they oscillate until they break.
 
If that were the case I can't see why salt would be required. I think the natural frequency of water molecules is a lot faster than radio waves.
 
Maybe it's the natural frequency of the salt that's causing that to happen.

I'd also call bullshit on the claim that, the waves in use are radio waves, considering the amount of radio waves bouncing around the world at the moment, yet no burning water.
 
radio waves...yeah...shorten the wavelength and you get microwaves. this idea is pretty simple, i'm sure it was tried at some point in time. the main difficulty in curing cancer, is to heat up the right cells. achieved with injection of nanoparticles, now this is a huge problem...how to get the right cells in large amounts. emitting waves is no big difficulty.
 
Can you imagine though... a fuel that won't have the potential to explode in flames in the event of a crash like we sometimes see with gasoline?
 
Don't they already cure cancer by bombarding tumors with X-Rays.

I don't think it would be practical to put a high powered frequency generator in a car, maybe in a hydrogen production plant, if hydrogen ever becomes a serious fuel.

1. He didn't find a cure for cancer, he just put into practice a well known principle that was already being discussed among the medical community and which is not even much more effective than radiation therapy.

2. This could NEVER be used as an energy source. See first law of thermodynamics.

In order to create the car of the future with a new energy source, why don't we do what we've done before. Get in our car, and make sure the horsies *Or people, if you're into that kind of thing* are strapped up, and start pulling!

1 -- If it does work, it would probably be the replacement for radiation therapy, because as you said - it is dangerous for you. Not sure if this will be, but radiation is just generally bad.

2 - I'm not versed in stuff like that, could you elaborate on it? :)

1.well all radiation is the same stuff...except that the wavelengths are different. gamma radiation as the most dangerous one, if stretched enough it can become plain radio waves.

2. water nneds i don't remember how many kilojoules to be split in elements. when oxygen and hydrogen fuse it releases energy but the released energy is either equivalent (in an ideal system) or less. so basically you put in 10 units of energy to split water and receive only 8 units of energy when fused. so you have a net loss of energy.

why fossil fuels are used is because they easily oxidate and the energy needed to make them was given from nature. if we would produce all the fossil fuels ourselves, you'd see that we need 10 dead elephants for one liter of gasoline. so nature has done the hard work in converting them and now we exploit the stored energy.
 
Yeah but the chingina gives him the "im going to eat EVERYTHING" feel.
 
Lesson learned: don't cook pies in the ocean.
