What are your favorite smart places on the internet? Places where scientific advances or ideas are discussed, where interesting books or reading is recommended, where good music/art in general is recommended, et al.

Obviously HL2.net.

But other than that I check BBC on a regular basis.

How about you?

I constantly visit wikipedia.

I visit it on average maybe 20-40 times a day.

goatse.ch mainly..

*edit* If you go to this site, you deserve what is waiting.

Do you have an interest in any of those things, or do you just want to appear smart to the idiots around you?

To be honest I want to spend my time learning more stuff rather than wasting way too much time here... and I have no ulterior pretentious motives :)

I quite like www.physorg.com since they have everything broken into sections so I can just look at what appeals to me.

And I also have the custom google homepage (igoogle I think it is), and have an RSS feed of /.

I generally don't like to associate myself with oxymorons.

Wikipedia gets a visit whenever something random pops into my head and I'd like to read about it.
Like the invention of Cheerios!

Are you talking about reference sites? Who isn't constantly on Wikipedia or Merrian Webster for a quick factoid or definition? Other than that, www.slashdot.org often points me in the direction of fairly interesting articles/websites. I'm a regular on www.slottechforum.com. It's the only online forum I ever see where off-topic banter is extremely rare. I think I saw a thread about WOW once. It's not very exciting unless you're into slot machine repair. I'm also on www.datasheetcatalog.com on a regular basis, but this is also somewhat of a reference site.

http://forums.philosophyforums.com/ -philosophical topics.
http://wetcanvas.com/-tutorials and art discussion, updated alot & lots to learn about art.
http://www.frostcloud.com/forum/ another philosohy/science forum.
http://sciforums.com/-all science topics, plenty of smarties there.
http://conceptart.org/ - some of the best artists Ive ever seen are here, professionals in the game and movie industry post here and give tips (some give tutorials) to people who post their art. GREAT site.

Really this site and CA are the only two I visit regularly, but Im a member of PF and sciforums under the name wes. So hit me up if your a member .
