South Korea's Team Fortress Communist kill-bots

Hey this is ****ing awesome! I didn't know they already finished it; thought it was due for 2008. Cool. :D

More communist killings!!! :D :D :D

Although it's only a matter of time 'till they take our jobs. I don't like machines deciding whether or not they can kill people. Incapaciate, yes, but not kill. We humans have a sense of morals and ethics, with common sense thrown into the lot. It's just bad to let a bot kill people.

Killing should be left to humans. :sniper:

EDIT:

"The robot will also help cope with the expected decrease in conscripts in the coming years," Lee told journalists.

I WAS RIGHT! THEY'RE GONNA TAKE OUR JOBS!

So, you've seen it's source code? You know that it's just going to shoot indiscriminately?
We've yet to reach a point in which AI can be fully automated in something so dangerous. Likely, it'll need an ok from a remote operator to actually fire - instead, it'll just raise the alarm.

Solaris - you'd support it if it was killing any of the following:

American soldiers
The "Burgeois"
Anyone you consider well-off

You really gotta get your priorities straight.

-Angry Lawyer

NONONO! Thats me dammit

A machine that kills people, anyone, without consideration. It disgusts me. I'm not a great fan of guns either, but thats just horrible. I support socialism, I do not support anything twisted. Nothing I support would have adverse effects.

Yeah, I know... almost as bad as people killing people.

War is horrible, but a world without war is a far more terrifying horror.

I don't like the idea of the machine deciding who to shoot.

Remember what happens to the barney in office complex, when you go up those stairs.

Indeed so, but if you're stupid enough to try and sneak across the most heavily defended border in the world, perhaps you deserve what you get.
Seeing as South Korea has an active program to integrate North Korean defectors into their society, I'm not quite sure how they intend to use this system at any rate.

I can think of not one single bit of technology that has had its principle of operation applied only to the first place it was designed for.

Guns that make choices about shooting are dangerous.

They are the future, however. Common theory holds that the next generation of manned fighter jets (F22, F35, Eurofighter, Rafale etc.) will be the last.

Unmanned guns don't make the decisions to shoot people. The remote control operators back home do that.

What if they guy is under somestealth device that machine cant sensor...
Visible to a human but invisble to a robot

It probably tracks a variety of things. Body Heat, maybe electrical impulses in the body, and obviously it tracks motion.

So the only way to stop it is to EMP it right?

*sends out message to EMP proof bots*

No.

If you get across one of the world's largest minefields, with about 800,000 soldiers guarding both sides of the DMZ with orders to shoot anything that moves (really), you are either one lucky son of a b*tch, or the Northerners helped you, which means that you are a spy.

How do you cock an EMP launcher? I mean, its obviously not projectile.

Pulls out EMP laucher for 3rd time

triggers the trigger

We seem to have had a spasm of insanity here....

Woah... You started it with the commies man... okok lets all relax and get back on the turret...

so is this like deployed there by some person who carriers and places or is it constructed at the location?

Yes, but the following generation are likely to be completely AI-operated UAVs.

Woah woah, speak in english here... if that is so, then we probably would be in our houses slurping choclate/milo(Wonder how many of you do that) and having a Droid Army fight for us right?

Actually, you started it with the viva la hitler thing/.

I would shit my pants if i saw that thing turn and look at me. That thing is so bad ass looking with the blue "eyes"

I think me or a lot of people in this thread have got the wrong idea, i thought they were merely guns that couldn't do anything other then look menacing without an operators expressed permission, i wasn't aware they were free thinking terminators welded into the ground?

Some people want you to THINK they're intended to be 'free thinking terminators welded to the ground'.

Nothing but fear mongerers.

Though granted, I'm not exactly in a happy place if I have that gun turning towards me, thinking to myself, "Oh don't worry Timothy, it's human operated!"

Indeed, Dancing Cow God. For all we know, there could be some bat**** insane freak operating it.

Maybe in a video game, but not in real life. I think a lot of people here are really naive.
