An episode of “South Park” that continued a story line involving the Prophet Muhammad was shown Wednesday night on Comedy Central with audio bleeps and image blocks reading “CENSORED” after a Muslim group warned the show’s creators they could face violence for depicting that holy Islamic prophet. Revolution Muslim, a group based in New York, wrote on its Web site that the “South Park” creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker “will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh” for an episode shown last week in which a character said to be the Prophet Muhammad was seen wearing a bear costume. Mr. Van Gogh was slain in Amsterdam in 2004 after making a film that discussed the abuse of Muslim women in some Islamic societies.

**** these people. Now that they messed with south park it's all out war. Who's with me?

Oh, and **** comedy central for being such pussies. Muhammad was already shown in a prior south park episode many years back, nobody seemed to give a shit then until some idiots started making noise in Denmark.

Did they actually show him in the second episode or did he stay in the bear suit?

I dont know, I haven't seen the second episode yet as it comes on late, I will watch it today when I get home. But according to the article they censored the shit out of it. Which is dumb because if you go back to the super best friends episode from many years back an actual image of Muhamad is shown.

**** that. Show it anyway.

Agreed.

They showed him in the bear suit again, but this time censored his name whenever it was said. It got really ****ing annoying at times. Once he got out of the suit, they censored his whole body.

If you haven't seen it yet, just wait until the end; South Park has a bit of fun with the censorship change.

I cant see how they'd justify censoring the show if they really thought the lives of the creators of the show were at risk. if they're that paranoid why not just pull the episode altogether? it wouldnt be the first time some extremist nutjob made threats over what's aired on the boob tube

so this response seems more than a little overkill

The way they censored it obviously mean they did it tongue in cheek.

Having seen the episode, it would seem they did it [strike]partly[/strike] totally on purpose.

The name bleeping is annoying though.

I wouldn't be surprised if the creators just ran with the bleeping after Comedy Central censored it.

They point that out in the episode (Stan says it). They should reshow the original Super Best Friends episode with Muhammad fully censored.

Absolutely ridiculous. Even if it is totally tongue-in-cheek, it still sets a terrible example of bending to the will of religious extremists. The fact that these little know idiots from a little known hate site could make such a horrific though thinly veiled threat and have a HUGE TV network bow down to them will not exactly help things moving forward. What else will they and other zealous groups control with their threats? This is one of the MANY reasons religion stinks like shit.

I love that they show Buddha sniffing coke and jesus looking at porn.

I don't like South Park really, but **** those asshole terrorists.

I hate radical ****s. Islam has the worst radical assholes. If there's one thing Christianity and other religions have going for them in the 21st century, it's that they no longer retain the ultra violence of the past. You can make fun of their religious figures without getting death threats for the most part.

Islam needs to go by the wayside, along with the rest of the religions. How liberal of me.

No wonder it was all bleeps.

Isn't.. that just the point they were trying to make?

I feel like this is a big joke.

quote from other thread, didn't know there was already one and I posted in mrg's

Yeah, I was figuring it was part of the joke too. First they censored the image. Then the next episode they censor the name. An annoying ass joke, but the joke nonetheless.

Anyone else amazed at the lack of foresight these people have when complaining on the internet? Apparently the website that made the "threats" had their site hacked...or so says reddit...although it may not even be the right site....

Tell that to Scott Roeder, or these idiots:

No doubt there are Christian terrorists. They exist. The world over however, there isn't the same kind of violent threats that there is when saying bad things about Islam. Shows make fun of Christianity and Jesus all the time, South Park being one of them... and they don't receive death threats for it from groups trying to exert oppressive fear from any criticizers.

I'm not a fan of Christianity or Judaism, and I'm certainly not a fan of Islam. Normally Islam doesn't really have an active place in national news except where it concerns failed terrorist plots or suspected terrorist plots, or terrorism abroad. They start going and threatening death to creators of our network shows, and that really pisses me off. I have no tolerance for it. I make it my business to be especially concerned about it because it's a local issue.

Most of the time it's Christianity in the news and being criticized, mocked, etc... but ignorant people who say it's because Liberals like me love Islam are ****ing idiots... and it's only because Islam is mostly a foreign affair, not one stirring events here at home.

But you can't dismiss the threats from Christians or minimize them. Yes they exist, and yes they are plentiful. Abortion clinics get death threats on a daily basis, so do the employees of those institutions. And those threats are carried out from time to time.

Islam might seem angrier right now because they are in the minority and they don't have any representation in our government. This is why Christians didn't seem that bat shit crazy, they were getting everything they wanted. Now all of the sudden you have a black liberal president that many of them think is a secret muslim from Kenya. All of the sudden you have christian militias popping up that are trying to kill cops. You again have abortion doctors getting killed. And if you think this isn't that wide spread just wait a few more years for them to totally loose their shit, this is just the beginning.

Who the is dismissing Christian extremists? They get more outrage threads on these forums than any other religion. Nobody is dismissing anything. We're in a thread talking about Muslim extremists.

These people doing the threats are going to be doing the threats no matter what their power level is(even if over 9000). They're extremists. They're not ordinary Muslim citizens who abide by the law.

This is a thread about Muslim extremist groups and the one threatening South Park creators... not Christians. We have an over abundance of Christian extremist threads... maybe you could discuss them in those threads instead of attempting to downplay Islamic extremism?

My point before was that because we're faced with more problems by Christian groups in the United States, is why we have more threads about Christian extremists. This one however, is about Muslim extremists... with domestic implications.

We were talkig about muslim extremists until you brought christians in to the discussion. Which is fine by me, but don't pretend you aren't the one that made it an issue. And you are dismissing the threat posed by those christian groups by somehow saying they forgot about their violent past. You do have a point that they might not be as extreme but I am simply pointing out to you that this will change, and it will change very quickly as we already are seeing.

You're right, I did bring them up. I apologize about that.

I however am not dismissing any threat, and that's absurd. See me in any thread and you'll see I understand the dangers of Christian extremists.

My point was that Christian organized violence has been slowly subsiding over the centuries. They've had tons of grievous assaults on civilization over the years. Crusades, Inquisition, Witch Hunt, White Supremacy, Abortion Murders... but much of that is left in the past. We're still left with White Supremacy and Abortion Murders, but their frequency of occurrence, particularly the latter, is greatly diminished. With Islamic extremism however, there's rarely a day that goes by globally that doesn't have terrorist caused casualties.

My point is in a grand scheme of things comparison, and particularly outside of the United States, Christian violence pales in comparison to the acts committed by Muslim extremists.

I make no denial that we're potentially entering in an age of increased violence by Christian groups. The interesting thing is, a large chunk of it is directly based on Islamic extremism. Crusades and Jihad. Absolutely terrible, their violence feeds off of each other. Hopefully it doesn't get that intense.

Yeah, and it annoys me that they are hiding behind the notion of "free speech" yet they are implying death and terroristic reprisals and jihad on some other group that is exercising the same right to "free speech." Just shows you how brainless and selfish these ****s are.

there's a separate posting on that blog after the initial one that explains that free speech is only free so long as you dont talk about their invisible sky wizards

Way to cave in to terror threats! GG.

I love how nobody seems to take this show seriously but Muslim extremists and idiots.

Heres a funny thing to think about. If your boss wanted to piss off terrorists, and you and your co-workers are receiving death threats, would you rather they just not show a cartoon, or would you rather show it and goad terrorists into attacking you?

Goad.

I think it was all publicity on the part of Trey and Matt. It feels way too deliberate and not at all "against their will" that it got censored this way. Despite what they claim.

Considering they can't stream the episode online, costing Matt and Trey a lot of money; I don't think it was deliberate on their part.

I don't think they're allowed to show the sequel to the 200th episode, they can only say it was Santa I think, cause if it's not Muhammad, then South Park gets bombed
