The Humble Bundle #3

VVVVVV was fun from the flash game I played a few weeks ago.

And Yet It Moves has a similar mechanic to VVVVVV. I had to switch the L/R controls before I could play it properly, but I like it better than VVVVVV.

Most people have probably played Crayon Physics already.

Hammerfight is hard as hell.

Cogs looked good when I saw a trailer months ago.

I don't really like Cogs but VVVVV is an awesome game. I thoroughly recommend it.

Also every time I see Cogs it reminds me of a nineties pre-rendered FMV.

Haven't heard of Crayon Physics or Hammerflight. Can someone give me a quick idea of them?

I bought VVVVVV on Kongregate and can play the full version there and got And Yet It Moves as a gift from Kongregate staff. I think I'll buy this for 15€ anyways. Crayon Physics Deluxe is Finnish like me, must support.

Do you get all the games from Steam if you want? Just like you had purchased them through Steam?

You receive a key activatable on Steam in the email after your purchase.

RITES OF PASSAGE. FLYING A GOD DAMN AIRCRAFT MAD OF WOOD AND SHIT. THIS SHIT IS NICE. WHAT THE **** I HAVE A GIANT SWORD AND HAMMER ATTACHED TO MY MACHINE? OH. MY. DICK. TRIBESMEN FROM ENEMY NATIONS CAN SUCK MY DICK. F8CK YOU ALL GLORY IS MINE.

Hammerfight is a little difficult to describe. There's a demo of it on Steam though. You basically control these physics-bound helicopter ship things and proceed in gladiator-style combat against other ships and beats and random shit. You use mostly melee weapons that you don't control directly, but swing around your ship like a flail (though there are various weapons). It's a pretty underrated game in my opinion. The developer kind of seems like he put out a good product then kind of gave up at the end. There's not a lot of instruction or anything. But there's a lot of important info online that will help you play better because it can get tough at times.

Wasn't interested until I saw a video of Hammerfight. I ****ing love games like that.

What's that other one? Like uhh... it's pretty much just a tech demo with scoring. Really rudimentary ragdoll characters you whizz around the screen with your mouse and kick one another. Might have been japanese?

Man I really love VVVVVV!

Now I feel bad I never bought it before!

I'm always interested by how the stats show Windows users to be so much more stingier than Mac and Linux users.

Mac users are rich and frivolous... that's why they bought a Mac. Linux users are most likely IT people or programmers so they can appreciate the hard work and the spirit of giving.

Sociology Operating Systems.

Anyone played And Yet It Moves yet? I'm stuck at this horned hamster thingy. There's a gap I can't get through, and the hamster got stuck on the other side...

I have played it and got through that level quite easily.

Mind posting a picture of the gap? Maybe I can help.

They added all of the games from the Humble Bundle #2 if you pay more than the current average. So... 11 games now. That's a good time.

You also get to play Minecraft for free for 10 days. If you somehow havent played ANY of these games you would be crazy to miss out. Pretty much all the games in the second bundle are fantastic, and a couple in the third bundle look pretty good. Wish I had some money in my Paypal account...

I'm so glad I paid above average, redeemed the games from #2 on Steam yesterday.

I really like the way these guys treat their customers!

On that note, I wonder if Cortex Command will ever reach a "Gold" version and come out on Steam.:p

Heh same. Paid 15 cents below average though, so hey.

Finished VVVVVV with all trinkets. Much more fun than I remember from trying the flash version, and much less frustrating than I anticipated. Just started Hammerfight and daaaang it's confusing and hard. Stuck on that escort mission because aaahhhhhh. Also switching it to full screen ****ed up my mouse sensitivity somehow haha!

Speaking of VVVVVV, I see that they finally released V2.0 on Steam as well.

Was that Ragdoll Kung-Fu? I think it was the first non-Valve game ever on Steam or something like that, way back when.

How the HELL did you get the Veni Vini Vici trinket?

The trick is to die roughly 300 times and invent several new swears.

Nah, wasn't a published game, just a little freebie with basic vector graphics or something.

Edit: Wow nevermind, that was ridiculously easy to find. :|

Veni Vidi Vici is scary, after you get it once it's a breeze to get through.

I didn't buy the bundle above average but I could still get my Steam code for the games of Bundle number two. I feel like a thief! (Also, didn't buy it above average because I gifted a lot of bundles to my IRL friends who have never heard of it, paid about 20 dollars in total.)

Actually, just checked the email I got, if you bought the Bundle before the #2 games were introduced you get them regardless of how much you paid before that. May your conscience be at ease!

The Bundle now also includes Atom Zombie Smasher, whatever that is. Like the previous games, it's automatically granted to anyone who bought the bundle prior to it being added, and it'll show up on Steam if you redeemed the key there.

Gosh this is getting substantial.

I love that they keep adding games even after I bought it. I'll be set for weeks if not months :D

also gog.com and direct2drive have deals like steam and humble bundle all the time.

None of these games interest me, and since I read Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged I don't need to give to charity.

Holy crap, pro-tip if you're getting stuck on Hammerfight like I was: lower your mouse's DPI to around 200 in the game's options (scroll left at main menu). This boosts the sensitivity in-game and makes it loads easier to pull off more powerful attacks. Was still stuck on that same mission, but after doing this I beat it in one go.

Also I've been itching to read that book ever since I bought it. maybe this fall when I'm indoors more

It's a terrible book, burn it right now.

I only got it because I wanted to try VVVVVVV and have Crayon Physics then found that all of these games were pretty fun in their own right. For instance Atom Zombie Smasher, although ridiculously difficult, is quite fun. Also Cogs is a well made puzzle game and Revenge of the Titans is one of the better tower-defense-style games I've played. But really the shining gems of the pack as far as I'm concerned are Braid and Hammerfight. Braid alone is worth the entire pack.

Yeah the default DPI is retarded. Big hits are good, but don't put it too low because you get in some tight spaces eventually and you'll be bouncing off everything.

Yeah, so far I've only played Hammerfight, its so addictive that I havent had time for anything else. Trying to get as much loot and gems as I can atm.

Yeah, thanks for the tip of turning down DPI.

The game's 'Detection' system put my DPI at 1200 which made it impossible, when I set it to 500 it felt just right for me, might try lowering it more I guess.
