i wouldnt say so much as to "believe" in him but much of his writing are in fact amazingly cool, and even if he was lying, he did go through alot of work to do so

If he was real he would have predicted all whats been happening in the US of late. I dunno, did he?

If he did and accurately then I'll believe he may have been genuine, otherwise I'll go with him being some bored kid from Barnsley

Even if it meant that 2004 was a point where it began to boil, I see no signs of a civil war happening honestly.
 
I see signs of Civil War everywhere in the south. Mercenaries(same ones hired to fight Iraqi insurgents) being hired to enforce the craziness down in New Orleans. "Shoot to kill at people who loot", the only "looters" i've seen were black people. Otherwise anybody else "find" things. I could see a scenario where all these black people gather up and revolt! Then it'd be blacks vs whites throughout the whole country.

Not really Civil War, but uprising.

Well it does seem like there is a major split occuring in the US right now which is a necessary ingredient for a civil war.

Personally I do see something like a civil war occuring sometime in the future. However it has nothing to do with Titor, he in my mind was just a fake who like me also believed a civil war may soon come.
 
John Titor said last year that there'd be a major terrorist attack at the Olympics, and that they'd stop in 2004. Now he says "between 2004 and 2040". Pah, bullshit.

Because stability and propserity can never last forever. It must always end only to make a return after a period of conflict and turmoil. If you ask me he was just predicting when the cycle will make a full come back again.

You know what I don't understand is how this person actually put forth all of this effort to answer everyone's questions and actually come up with a logical answer for most of them. I know he could have planned everything, but still.. Think about it, why would this person even want to make some people on a forum he would never meet believe he is a time traveler.. Then again why would a time traveler care to get the word out that he is a time traveler..

I'm not saying I believe in him nor am I saying I don't.. Either way its a good read for most..


I just wish they launch the nuke already.. :(

There hasn't been one single day in recorded history without a war going on somewhere in the world. It's worth discussing the eventuality of our peace comming to an end - peace is so fragile while war is so violent. That's what the JT story is about. He's really just saying: Discuss. Criticize. Empower yourself, or you may have to anyway.

The only thing I see in the JT story is that being so believable gives the tale a purpose: It doesn't matter if he's real - his view of the coming years just confirms some things we can imagine inside of us. That's why it's an interesting tale to me. It makes you wonder. That's why I like it.

I think kirovman was saying that the so-called prophets always seem to predict major wars or violent events for the near future. For instance, John Titor predicts an all-out, full-scale nuclear war with three billion deaths. That's just a tiny bit more violent than your average day-to-day conflict. Most seem to be of the doom and gloom variety. It's never "Oh your society is about to enter its golden age and things will be relatively calm for a time" and yes, while no society ever reaches a utopian state, every society has the equivalent of a pax romana. There can be long stretches of relative tranquility and peace. So why don't we ever hear that? Why is it always about the impending doom of mankind?

Reading the John Titor wikipedia entry is very interesting. I've always been skeptical, but even if it was a fake it was a damn good story, told well.
 
How to find out if John Titor was a fake or genuine

Make a movie about him, using everything he said, make a fortune from it.

If he's a fake and American, he wont be able to stop himself taking the studio to court to demand his money for stealing his "work"

If he's a fake and British, he wont be able to stop himself complaining in pubs to anyone who'll listen, and will eventually end up on some Celebrity Reality TV show

It was interesting to see all your views on my statement though. I do agree largely with what has been said about there never being an indefinite period of stability. But yes, qckbeam explains what I meant better than I did.

Yes but the multiple timelines principle means that, for all we know, a counter-terrorist spook could have read that and ordered greater security. So the terrorists thought 'shit, this'll never work' OR were caught and it wasn't disclosed. Titor himself admits that his very presence in our world might change events and his predictions can never be entirely accurate.

It's a nice get-out clause. :upstare:
