Hard to say. I tend to attach to albums much more than the artists or bands responsible, since much of their output tends to be very inconsistent, in either quality (as judged by myself ) or even genre/style. I guess if I had to make a list of my favourites, it'd be the bands I've been most consistently interested in up till now without outgrowing them.

Also, @Warped: Yay for Death Cab For Cutie! Again, absolutely love their stuff but doesn't make the top 5 yet.

Yes I do. I actually just saw Umphrey's (probably 10th time) in December for their NYE run. They originated near Chicago so they're local favorites and I get to see them a bunch. I saw Pretty Lights the next day too. That was one helluva a week.

Flying Lotus also plays a great show. I've only seen him once (last April I think), but I would jump at another chance to see him again whenever he comes around Chicago.

Btw, you say your friends are usually on the east coast following Umphrey's.. I'm guessing they probably follow .moe too?
