I feel saddened. This game is nothing like Ut2k4 when it comes to Vehicular Combat. Firstly, I would like to say that the unreal series is one of my most favourite games of all time and I have everything from ut99. When Ut2k4 came out, and vehicular combat was introduced, I was stunned at the awesomeness.
In Ut2k4, The maps were fairly large and not too graphically detailed such that it spoiled the focus on the characters of vehicles. Also, they were extremely large enough for players to actually get around on foot and conduct sniping missions etc. None of this seems to be in the maps of either VCTF or Warefare. Yes, there are some maps that are good that I enjoyed but most seemed to be extremely confusing and boring to play at times. The complexity of the maps made me still feel like I was in a cramped area in gameplay. Also, there seemed to be a lack of flying vehicles in most maps. Furthermore the almighty leviathan was hardly used at all in the game. And they made such a big deal about warefare in the unreal site and all and now it just seems like a toned down version of the great onslaught.
Lastly, the vehicular controlling is terribly wierd, and the controls are too abrupt for the scorpion and hellbender unlike the previous ut2k4 vehicles. My point is the whole feel of the game is unlike ut2k4, it feels like my screen is "dense" and confusing, with far too much detail and smaller maps. And personally, I think the orb idea is rather stupid. It just adds further confusion to the game which should only have defense via turrets or vehicles to make it more fun. I could rant on yes, but I just want to see it is a dissapointment.
However, the deathmatch games were alright i guess. ALso, there seems to be hardly any servers at all. Most servers pinged at 400+ for me and there were only 25 warefare servers and 50+ deathmatch servers. This is quite terrible.
