HL1 was dumb in terms of difficulty, though. There's something silly about ramping up the health of the Marines so that they turn into bullet absorbers.
True, but having less Health / Armour in the dispensers wasn't a bad idea. I'm surprised they got rid of it.HL1 was dumb in terms of difficulty, though. There's something silly about ramping up the health of the Marines so that they turn into bullet absorbers.
Invisible Enemies + Paint Pot Physics Prop = Instant Clever Gravity Gun Tactic.and the black chicks being invisible made HL1 on hard unique
alien slaves shooting faster and the black chicks being invisible made HL1 on hard unique
Invisible Enemies + Paint Pot Physics Prop = Instant Clever Gravity Gun Tactic.
Surprised I haven't seen it done already.
No Gravity Gun (or paint) in HL1?

It's often hard to hit a fast, skinny, invisible, superjumping woman with a single crossbow bolt![]()
Did anyone else find that the assassin fights are one of the rare times they use the SMG in HL? It's quite useful for dealling with them because of the spread and grenades.
the puzzles are too easy, they should confuse you for like half an hour.
You wouldn't even need to 'paint' an invisible gunship using the paint-grav-gun tactic I proposed. They're always firing on you and the rockets, so it's always pretty obvious where they are.invisible gunships? holy shoit, that would be hard, how do you rpg somehimg thats half hidden?
The preview of the Orange Box guide specifically mentions difficulty settings... and has no mention of a 'Very-Hard Difficulty' setting. I say it's probably not in. Disappoint I suppose, but on the bright side, previews do seem to assert that the AI puts up a better fight than before, and that Hunters are particularly challenging (and seem to have superseeded Soldiers in many scenes). And then there is Portal with its wealth of advanced challenge modes...Is it confirmed there will be a harder setting btw? I remember reading in a interview they might do it.

Half-Life wasnt hard at all, as a matter of fact i have yet to play a game that gives me trouble. A fps that is.
The PC Gamer review remarked that the Combine soldiers are still the weakest enemies in the game.
Tried playing Minerva on hard?
Foster customized the .cfg, and it feels like the upcoming fourth difficulty. Headcrabs do around 25 damage per bite, and the combine soldier weapons have the player's own damage values.
Man it was challenging.
1. They need to stop playing on easy.
2. Birds are the weakest npcs in the game :naughty:
