Hi, I bought Vista 64 bit a couple of months ago and managed to idiotically crack the CD. I still have a legit CD Key and was wondering if its possible to download an illegal version and use the legit CD Key. I don't want to fork out another £60 for a product I already bought.

Not sure if this is against the forum rules since is it piracy if you own/bought the product already?

Any help is appreciated.

Replacements for damaged, defective, or lost Microsoft software or hardware
To request replacement hardware or software, contact the Microsoft Supplemental Parts team at the appropriate contact number that is provided in the "Contact Information" section. You must be in possession of the product (if it is damaged or defective) and be able to provide proof of purchase. The customer service representative will advise you of any replacement costs or shipping and handling fees that may be charged. If a product is no longer under warranty, the replacement item may no longer be available.

Or if you know someone else that'll let you borrow their Vista install disc you could use that and use your CD key.

Yeah like Iced Eagle said be careful on the version you download if you do choose to download a copy off the net. Quite a few of the Vista downloads come pre-cracked, so you'll want to avoid them and find a clean version.
