So 2 of the 3 scientists from HL1 returned in HL2, Dr. k and Eli, so what happened to that 3rd scientist "Slick" i believe is what he was called

He probably died or wasn't of any use. I'm tempted to believe that he just blew up for fun.

one of the dead ones, I'm sure.

i remember 4 scientist models from hl1. the kleiner lookin one, the eli lookin one, then there was one that looked like albert einstein and then one with black hair. which one is this "slick" character?

And then there were the scientists from Blue Shift who escaped with barney. What happened to those dudes?

Dr. Rosenberg and those scientists were created by Gearbox, and so Valve really has no obligation to use them again, as they don't factor into the main story that much.

As for Slick and Einstein, my guess is that they just didn't have much use for them. The Kleiner scientist was a more recognizable figure. Eli also remained because the game needed a black person in order to show diversity in City 17. :)

Also, it would be boring if "all" the scientists from Black Mesa survived. (I know there were more than four scientists in Black Mesa, but you all get my drift)

Barney Calhoun was created by Gearbox, too, but he's a major character in HL2 :P. But I wouldn't really care to see Rosenburg and the rest there. They probably died in the Combine invasion or else are just trapped in one of the many cities people are kept in.

I don't care about the science team, I want Corporal Adrian Shepard.

That's not entirely true. Like the G-Man, there was never any direct reference to him or his name. Eventually, the community unanimously termed them as they saw fit. G-Man was titled after his model name. Barney was named after Barney Fife because of their resemblance (which has since been lost). Gearbox just took the name and ran with it. And as a consequence of that, Valve ran with it because god knows how many people would be pissed at a discrepancy in naming.

As far as the fans should be concerned, the only connection between HL2's Barney and BS's Barney is the name, as HL2 does not take into account the events of the expansion packs. You can bet that regardless of wether or not Blue Shift was made, you would have gotten the same Barney we did in HL2, with the only difference being his last name.

I could have sworn Valve had said before (in the run up to HL2) it was Barney Calhoun (Last name Calhoun = the exact one from BS :P) in HL2 and from BS, but it might be me just remembering things like that. Either way it fits in just right so to me I accept it as that. Either way, BS and OF are canon anyway, as Laidlaw approved the stories (if not writing them, not sure though)

Well, it's just my conjecture. :)

Considering they started development right after they finished HL, I find it unlikely that Barney was a toss-in after Blue Shift (which was released in 2002, quite far into HL2's dev time). Barney was going to be in the game regardless of his own expansion, I'm quite certain. The name just sorta carried over from BS to respect the newly-formed bit of canon. But it's not like Valve owe any kind of real credit to Gearbox.

What If Slick was the G-man???

Actually, I do believe that slick died. If i recall HL1, he always seemed to be the one that died the most outta the 4 scientists.

As for the Einstein, its quite simple why Valve didnt recreate him. It would practically be Einstein with the perfection of the source engine and would be just to weird running around with the egghead professor, doing deuces knows what.

known scis in HL
Black (Eli, Simons)
Glasses (Kleiner)
Einstien (Walter)
Slick
Keller (disabled. I think he is in the sci pic in HL2 standing up)
Breen (more of a diplomat)
Gordon
Gina
Colette
Hazard course girl
Misc scis from HL2 sci pic

I'm pretty sure they're the same. The Hazard Course girl certainly uses the Gina model.

I always imagined Walter as the "kliener" like scientist, partly because PHL's Walter stories used that sci. Either way, Walter wasn't actually seen: the Op4 Einstien like scientist left a message for Walter - he wasn't walter himself. "ah yes, Walter..."

Wasn't the model (file) always called Barney?

I seem to remember the original PCGamer Half-life Review (UK) which had a box-out about Barney.

The Walter I refer to is one of Dr. Rosenburgs companions. If I'm not mistaken they were Simons and Walter.

Also, in BS the kliener like scientist is refured to as Walter by Dr. Rosenburg. I think.

Are you sure? I thought it was an Einstein sci.

I would like Adrian, but I don't know where he would play in. Probably in HL3 when the war against the combine starts again and we pwn em.

those scientists at the end of blueshift?
ah yes, they have names don't they; because Rosenberg calls them in turn when they step into the teleporter
