I still have alot of questions which i hope will be answered in HL3

I really want to know what happened to Shepard after Opposing Force and if he mite be in HL3.

That's if there even is going to be a HL3 :)
Valve might just stick to episodic content if it proves to be a winner.

So far i dont think Aftermath will explain enough for them to stop making more HL games but i dont know so i couldnt really say lol. I hope theres an HL3.

wow werent you a mod not too long ago?

You're confusing him with Danimal.

And Half-Life 3 is still likely to happen in the next couple of years. They'll run out of ideas for the Half-Life 2 setting eventually. Sooner or later they'll have to continue the story in another timeline (I hope).

Yea I hope so too. I think there will be a Half-Life 4, or an expansion at the end of 3, an ending to send chills up your spine. Not the scared kinda way.

ok regardless does he need to post something like that, no one things its funny

I just hope the entire story is more or less revealed. I hate when a book/movie/game is finished and the story of what exactly happened is still very mysterious. Its a neat effect but downright annoying.

I don't know why but for some reason I predict a return to whatever may remain of Black Mesa at some point. Then maybe on to wherever the Combines homeworld is for a direct confrontation.

Im very eagerly awaiting Aftermath and mabey an HL3. I dont think there are remains of Black Mesa since it was Nuked. Gman tinkering with a nuke right after shepard disables it. But i could be wrong.

Black Mesa was too big for 1 nuke to destroy considering it was an underground bunker that was actually designed to take a nearly direct hit from an ICBM. Parts of it would most certainly remain.

Yea now that i think about it, that was a small nuke, mabey it wasnt a nuke.

Shepard will not make a further apearance and neither will BM.

I seem to remember a Valve quote from an email saying Race X wouldn't reappear but where did they say Shepherd wouldn't?

I doubt we'll see BM again too, though they could surprise us.

Black Mesa is gone, and hopefully, so is Shepard.

We can only hope and pray.

Well we will see when and if HL3 comes out. I just hope its as good as all the others, if it comes out.

*HL3, back in BM*
"..."
"Gordon the area around Black Crat-er-Mesa is highly radioactive. You will have to take off the HEV suit and get in a radiation suit"
"..!"
"Shut up and get in Gordon"
*Gordon dies 2 miniutes latter when a bullsquid pierces his suit*

We do. It was NUKED. Christ.

Thermonuked, 5 megatons. And the facility is Gone and we're never going back.

and it wasnt "proof against a direct hit from an ICBM". You cant build a facility to withstand that, and definetly not in the 1950s (when the missile base part of the BMRF [i.e. most of it] was built).

the BMRF is GONE, get over it. And no time travel damn it!

Great Scott! Something's wrong with the flux capacitor!

We've got to get the buggy up to 88!

No facility could take a direct hit, but back in the 1950's they most certainly did design underground facilities that could survive being caught within its blast radius. I visited one in Canada actually just a few km's outside of Ottawa, it was used for filming a few brief segments of The Sum of all Fears actually.

Anyway, exploding a nuclear device underground also isn't going to result in a blast radius that is nearly as big, then when you consider the fact that Black Mesa was absolutely gargantuous and went far further underground than a nuke on the surface could even hope to penetrate it isn't all that difficult to imagine some locations like the Test chamber more or less surviving.

What does this debate have to do with anything being in HL3, if it comes out?

The miniumum safe distance from that bomb was 55km. Do you think BM is that big? Also. The Black Ops probably had the plans to BM and set the nuke(s) in the position for maximum destruction.

What might be in HL3: Black Mesa

*argument ensues over whether Black Mesa could be in HL3*

Seems legitimate to me.

Also I would like to point out that if Black Mesa were totally destroyed along with everything on the surface then I would like to know how the entire planet still ended up being populated by creatures from Xen. Either the entire planet turned into one big portal or something remained open and unclosable after Black Mesa was nuked. And I don't think the whole planet became one big portal because then the world militaries would have had their hands full and the US military probably wouldn't have bothered sending so much to Black Mesa because it wouldn't have mattered.

On top of that it is indicated that the majority of people living in City-17 were American refugees, indicating to me that something in the US was the continuing source of invasion, that being Black Mesa if you ask me.

I don't think Black Mesa has to necessarily still exist for aliens to keep coming through. The Resonance Cascade basically ripped a hole in our space and it doesn't require crazy machinery to keep it open, although it does to close it.\

Also, the nuke was inside the facility. I doubt it was designed to withstand a nuclear detonation from the inside.

He doesn't have to come back as the main character or anything like that. All I want is for his storyline to be resolved, even if through a cryptic line from the G-man or something like that.

Besides, what do you have against him anyway?

The portal storms cover the entire planet(and probably some of space) and continue to this day.
