Ok, there has been a thread up for a while which allows you to vote for the best map, but what is the worst map?

Vote on what you think the worst map is then comment on other people's choices.
Mine is ctf_well, I can't stand it.

VOTE AND DISCUSS!

Hydro is awesome wtf

Well's probably my least favourite, though it's not terrible.

I don't get why more people don't play Hydro. It's an awesome map. :?

Well. Though none of those maps are really bad. I just like the aesthetics of Well the least.

Hydro, although I considered voting Badwater because it's a fairly mediocre map that I can't seem to avoid on any server (as opposed to Hydro which hardly pops up on rotations nowadays).

I don't understand people's problem's with Hydro. It's one of the very best maps TF2 has.

It was a nice innovation in principle, but there are so many frustrations with Hydro: full of boring killboxes, tendency to steamroll (or stagnate due to turtling engies) means I've had very few balanced games, broken flow due to constant map switches, final maps are near impossible to defend, the back and forth territory changes increase the time that a full game takes to play, which means that it's often hard to bring the match to any meaningful conclusion on a server with default map times (common on the few vanilla servers I can find that still run Hydro)...

And nowadays, when it pops up so infrequently on rotations, the noobs don't know the map and the vets have become unused to the layout, making games even more confused and shitty.

Anything > Hydro.

Oops. I was getting Hydro and Turbine mixed up.

I played 2forts so many times in tf2 that I can't bear it anymore in tf2.

The updated ctf_well is the best CTF map in TF2 and anyone who says otherwise is a poopy pants.

cp_badlands is probably my least favorite, but honestly, there isn't a single TF2 map I dislike or don't enjoy. It's just varying degrees of love.

ctf_well is an awful map, for most classes, its far too small and limited to its 'single lane' route between bases.

You like the ctf_well map? I liked it as a capture point map, because it'd push or pull the conflict along the map, and is one of the few where both teams vie for the same points. Capture the flag on this map is a drag because of its length, in my opinion. Not that I won't play it, but if I had to choose a least favorite...

There is 1.

Since they took the water route out, theres only 1. Sure you can climb, rocket jump etc onto and over the train building but you will still be seen by snipers and encounter the same people.

oh lol. Yeah, I guess that route doesn't count because of snipers.

/massive eyeroll

And the water route is there, it just won't take you as far. A successful flag retriever should use the water for 1/4 of their base-base route.

And there really is only one route on the ground level, but it's so crouded and broken up with obstacles there are several different ways of getting through it. Calling it one route isn't really doing it justice.

Thats different, the lower route is obsured by the walls and the bridge legs. It isnt the same as only having one level of combat.

Yeah, but the sniper nests still have a view of virtually everywhere else outside the bases. And if sniper visiblity constitutes an unusable route then the underside of the bridge is the only valid route bewtween bases in all of 2fort.

Snipers in 2fort can only just poke their scopes down to see into the enemy sewer entrance, and by the time they have noticed someone is running through, they're gone.

I never said otherwise. All I'm saying is that 2fort has 3 options for crossing which are all completely open and exactly the same, just at different levels. Just a chunk of the bottom level is invisble to snipers. But in well the ground level alone is so varied and broken up, there are plenty of ways to go through.

Its the fact that both teams are still using the single lane and there will always be a pyro or scout who will find you running through one of the smaller tunnel exits.

I don't understand ctf_well. They have an intel room in each base, but instead they put it on that silly cart... I really don't understand why they didn't use the intel rooms. It would have made it so much more fun.

So, thats why I picked it

tc_hydro is one of the best maps ffs.

I don't like ctf_2fort, but I'm going with ctf_well.

hydro is my least favorite for sure. I just don't like the game type or the way the map is designed. all of you guys hate on 2fort because it tends to stalemate and is chokepoint heaven - but that's exactly what I like so much about it.

Well it sounds like you just don't want to encounter any enemies at all, so I guess our definition of quality is different. There needs to be a place where the majority of fighting and battles take place.

Granary, just because with a team on a roll it's very hard to fight back effectively. Though Fort comes a close second because it stalemates so often (and only the snipers enjoy that). I like Hydro simply for the madness, though I can appreciate peoples dislike of it.

Same. I much more enjoy a game that drags on for ages and is a seesaw battle for power, rather than one that's over in minutes due to imbalance, or one that times out before any headway can be made.

The problem with Hydro is that as the round goes on with no winner, respawn time gets shorter and shorter, until by the end it's instantspawn.
The only official map to have instant respawn, I like to hope it's just a bug.
Keep spawn at ~20 sec and I'd say Hydro will be playable again.
Other then Hydro I'd have to say Granary at a distant second worst. The middle point's awesomeness makes up for the boring flatness of the other 4 cap areas.

Hydro is a random spamathon and a kick in the face to teamplay. There's a reason it is never, ever played competitively - it's completely unsuitable. I guess if you just want a frag fest and enjoy random gibbings, it's ok, but not if you value team work and skill. Turbine, on the other hand, is a wonderful map for opposite reasons :)

Turbine is the worst map along with ctf_well, whenever I play on Uberium's server and I'm not sure what is coming next, I actually pray to god to make sure it isnt Turbine or Well (ctf). If either of them appears on screen I get a really bad feeling in my cut..

In my defense it wasnt really intended for mass public play, but it seems to have developed into a Marmite situation, somtimes it plays amazingly well, other times it tends to gridlock, most issues with it can usually be solved with decent demomen though, but then thats true of most situations.

In clan play however, straightforward maps are often more popular as its easier to develop tactics for 6(ish) players, If I was to go back, I probbally would rework the exits and add in a sewer tunnel or somthing like that, but that would become another map entirely.

Almost voted Badwater. Pretty damn boring and way too common. Granary for me though, it's just not interesting.

That's the difference between public servers - which are usually packed and teamplay is little to none - and clan games. Turbine is awful on a public - it's too small and the map gets locked down. Put two decent teams together in a match, and it's great.

Toiletbowl will always be the worst Team Fortress map. It's such a cluster-you-know-what.
