Worst nightmare you ever had?

actually, that's true. And old man does stare at my house at night. with binoculars though, not night vision. thank God for curtains.

Ewww. But it's true.

LOL

But seriously, there is a crazy old coot with his wife across the yard from me. Once when I was a kid, I threw paper into his yard, and he came to my house asking for an apology. yea I was wrong, but come to my house? Another time his trees were overgrown so we cut some of the branches that were hanging in our property off. The lady came out with a camera and took pictures with an angry face on her. she couldn't sue us cause it was our property, lol. And thrice more, we were launching fireworks on the forth of July (before it was illegal) and he came up and threatened to arrest us because he was an ex-cop. He couldn't do jack shit and walked away angry.

OMG, HE IS A NIGHTMARE!

I've had dreams that I'm sitting at my computer (My desk is right by my closet) and a bunch of hands (about fifty I'd wager) come out of the closet, in my dark room, lit only by my monitor, and grab me around the neck and on the face. As soon as they do though, I wake up. It's weird though, cause I can't turn my head to look, and I can feel them coming at me, yet I can't move, and I'm singing. Yes, singing. I always wake up with wet sheets because I'm sweating... quite annoying really.

I also have this dream that I'm being chased down a long hallway by a monster. I don't know what it looks like, I just know it's a monster, and it's bigger than anything that's supposed to fit in a hallway. There's doors lined all down the hallway, but each one I open is just a fake door that wobbles and flaps on top of me, (By the way, it's always the same one I open.) and I can't move. Then the monster gets only close enough to me that I can't quite see it, and I wake up.

i used to get those scarey dreams where someone is like outside my window with a crowbar waiting to break in but i could never really figure out if i was dreaming or just sleepy(i was always dreaming....i think).

but now the scariest dream i get is wen i have a bunch of my money stacked up and then someone steals it all, i never know but it makes me crazy til i wake up.

Probably still my worst nightmare is one I had when I was 8 or so. I was in my bedroom, alone, and it was close to pitch dark. I was sitting on my floor playing with those word blocks that have different letters on each side (even though I don't recall ever having those as a kid, must have seen it on TV). Then a goblin (again, probably TV) walks in, kicks over my words blocks, and just starts screaming right in my face. Like, loud. Just really ****in' lets loose, and it was the worst noise in the world. So yeah, that freaked me for a while.

Another one I had more recently, I wouldn't say really scared me all that much, but it did have a pretty weird effect on me otherwise. I was sitting in a room - again, close to pitch dark, but light enough to make out the faint outlines of walls and such. I think I was lifting weights or something weird like that (again, never really done it all that much in real life :P). As I'm sitting there, I notice movement in the one doorway looking out of the room, and the next moment a man walks in, right towards me. But he wasn't just walking, he was really striding, in a way that I actually felt his presence in the dream, and it was really imposing somehow. Then he grabs me and looms over me and I can see his face - he's a youngish looking guy but with white hair, and his expression is intense and ghoulish. Not that any of this strikes me as significant now, but at the time I got a sensation like it was familiar somehow, and I think it was around that point that I "snapped" into lucid mode - and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

I wanted to smile at him. I wanted to muster up my biggest, cheesiest grin, right as he had me in his grip ready to do whatever evil shit he wanted to do, just to spite him. But I can't. My face is frozen and I can't even budge a muscle, as hard as I'm trying (and I'm trying pretty hard), and at the same time I get the feeling he's about to hit me or something else nasty. Anyway, right about now my girlfriend wakes me, looking pretty concerned, and I realise pretty quickly that I'm covered in sweat and shaking all over. On top of that my face is numb and she says I look like I just saw a ghost, but besides that I felt absolutely fine. I went back to sleep pretty much instantly, woke up well rested, and we had a good laugh about it the next day. :|

It was dark christmas night..

I left santa some gingerbreads..

One of them was shaped like Gordon Freeman..

Then... When I woke up in the morning, there was a note on the table:

'There will be NO HL2 EP3! YOU MADE ME EAT THE MAIN CHARACTER!

Then I woke up, ate sum gingerbreads and went back to my bed. That was the saddest thing in my life. Ofcourse I made everything up, but who cares?!

My nightmares always have a similar decent into madness theme and are always very abstract. I'm never in them either. In one a ferris wheel broke loose and was just rolling about at night and it wouldn't stop. It'd never stop, on and on and on, forever and ever. In another there was this barren field, no grass, just dead earth, again at night, and a ridiculously huge tractor was going to destroy a single red flower. Sounds stupidly gay but it was terrifying.

Some years ago I dreamed I was at home, watching TV, when suddenly a guy comes and starts throwing potatoes on me :|.
For some reason those potatoes were terrifying and I was VERY scared. I left the house from the back door and ran like hell. The potato thrower followed me. "I MUST FIND MY CAR", I tought (I don't have a car btw). I found my car in front of a bakery, the potato thrower had disappeared. I got in the car, then I realised I had forgotten the car key in the house. I silently came back to my house. No sign of the potato thrower. I got my key, then I heard the potato thrower walking slowly behind me. He threw another potato, that one almost hit me, I tried to leave the house again, but when I was going to open the door, I realised the potato thrower had locked it. I looked at him, he laughed and said: Are you ready to die? I said "please don't do this... I don't deserve this... please...", like in the movies. Then he threw a potato at me. I couldn't escape, I was desperate... When the potato was about to kill me, I woke up.

This is very crazy but it was very scary for me. I was like WTF POTATOES and they were very deadly in the dream :|

Of course if you're Irish, then potatoes are deadly.

My scariest nightmares, the ones that surpass all the scariest dreams I ever have(Which are a hell of a lot of truly frightening ones), are the ones where my family members, sometimes all, sometimes only one end up dying. I go through the entire process in my dreams, from the realization and shock, to the mourning and depression and endless grieving.

It's truly terrible. The first thing I do when I wake up is make sure they're still alive, because sometimes they can feel so real.

No, I think more deadly thing to irish people is not to have whisky in 5 minutes.
Althrough I'm a walking Jamaican stereotype.

I had a nightmare where I was in an elementary school covered in blood and kids with rotten flesh holding little knives started to stab me... oh wait, that's Silent Hill 1.

It's quite pathetic, but the worst night-mare I had was failing my exams, and that was the day before the results were released. I cried in that dream and when I woke up, my bed was all wet. This was 7 years ago, and I probably never felt as much emotion in a dream.

Speaking of dreams, dreams are the greatest gift god (if you even believe in a divine entity..) or let me put it this way, the greatest gift that was ever given to us

I haven't had any real nightmares lately, the closest thing was an uneasy dream a few nights ago where I seemed to be in some sort of model viewer looking at what in the dream seemed to be called (that's what I felt, at least) a Trigen, only it was probably an Imp because I'd been watching Doom 3 videos. I had a similar dream a few weeks ago when I got back into HL2, only it involved a regular headcrab zombie going "'sup" at me - hence, not scary at all.

I can remember two actual nightmares, although they probably quite some time ago, over the last year (I could go look in my dream journal, but it's a bit complicated looking through a year's worth of entries...).

In the first one I dreamed I was in the living room, facing my computer(?), and all the lights were out, it was the middle of the night. I had a feeling I was supposed to be doing something, but the only thing I remember happening is suddenly my dream self turning to look at the window right by the television and seeing a UFO just outside (with comical proportions, admittedly, the damn alien was almost as big as the ship). I can't recall whether I woke up or not, but I can remember my heart thumping.

Some other night I dreamt I was standing somewhere (I honestly couldn't tell where). In the distance (at least two or three kilometers away) there were two mountains, and a bit into the dream two lights appeared near them. I apparently started telling people around me to look at the lights (they were UFOs, again), then one of them starts casting a beam of light - and this was the part where I got nervous - and it pans over to me. Before I know it I'm looking at pure white and being sucked towards it... that's when I woke up.

when i was around 10 i dreamed i was in a cage with a bunch of other people and this giant was thinking of how to eat us or something. anyway last thing that happened in the dream before i awoke was the giant saying aloud "now all i need is a knife" and he throws a knife across the room hitting someone in the face and his scull rips out and ends up pinned to the wall. that freaked me out a lot :S
other nightmares have just been weird like my sister being a witch lol

I guess the only one that actually woke me up was where I was a doctor, with a high tech machine:

Infront of me behind a glass panel was a rather slim looking person, naked, chained up and suspended in mid air in a large, white cylinder - A bunch of electrodes and wires and shit was attached to his head and shoulders, infront of me on a metallic table is a pile of grey. A brain. A pair of tongs were next to the brain and apparently I had to move the brain without squeezing the tongs too tight and therefore squeeze the liquids that hold his body together. I picked up the tongs and simply slided them along the sides of the brain, the person behind the glass panel moaned loudly in irritation, then snapping his head up to glare at me - His face was shadowed out, though, becuase I imagine there was a light just above him. As I was seeing this before me, I heard a muffled shouting and the sound of feet slapping against tiles, I turn to see a man in a robe approach, apparently mentally challenged, making all kinds of strange moaning and wails as he reaches for the tongs.

Squeezes tightly.

And of course what I knew would happen, the man behind the glass panel lets out a shriek, a bloodcurdling scream, and his skin started to swell, kinda' like a balloon - His skin turning green/orange at the same time, it suddenly pushes outwards in a rough texture, kinda' like brocolli - The person who squeezed the tongs claps his hands and bolts off - The skin starts to grow, as the screaming is muffled by enveloping folds of this "skin"... It exploded outward violently, suddenly.

I hear cracks of glass, then panic as I realise the glass breaks open - The "Skin" gushes out and surrounds me, I could feel this intense warmth, and as I peered into the pattern it made around me - His face was glaring at me, angrily, and I felt as if I failed at keeping this person normal.

I woke up at around 2/3 am, and couldn't go back to sleep.

...

In terms of other dreams, I don't know if I'd call them nightmares, despite having intense gore, horror n' shit. A dream I had a couple of nights ago is a good example. I'll skip everything but the violence itself - Basically, invading aliens, propeller handblades - That part wasn't bad. We fought back and they fled by planting coiled springs in trees, pushing back on them, and launching into their ear-wax space ship (Long story).

Anyway, I killed one upon exit, and one of the aliens were pissed. I ultimately paid a dear price for the life of an alien. He dissapears for a moment, then returns, in his many pale hands were babies - One in each hand, I beleive he gathered about four. He coiled the springs and widened them, placing each baby inside the coil, letting it go gently it rises up and around the infants, and he cackles in a raspy manner as he begins to launch off. Of course, he does so, and the springs flail madly with the babies inside, or at least their remains.

The action of the moving springs mutilated these babies in a blood mess, two lived, missing most skin and organs here and there - They dangle for a moment in the springs, crying madly, before the springs bend down and they drop from the tall, tall tree - They shoot down like red meteors into the crowd below, and a high tide of blood envelops the entire scene. I assume everyone involved drowned in this.

I was at a LAN, actually, and as soon as I woke up, I sat in an upright position looked at my friends, laughed and said "I just had a dream about baby mutilation."

Of course they cringed.

Ive had one dream where I just shouted out loud 'WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!??', but I was still asleep. My mum and sister burst into my room, flick on the lights and im just lying there, fast asleep. Dunno what I was dreaming about...

When I lived in Malaysia, we used to live in a 3 storey house almost right next to a huge forest, like proper forest, not woodland. We used to get monkeys on our roof etc etc, I even came back from football one day, into my bathroom to find a 7ft long Monitor lizard in my bath..how the ***k did it get in there with the door closed ill never know (probably through the toilet but still, how the ***k).

Anyway, as a result, one night I dreamt about white monkeys coming really fast to my window through the trees, and they had glowing, red eyes. Just before they get to my window I close the curtains. I remember hearing the smashing of glass and the sound of them running up my stairs, and just as one gets to my door (he does that kind of slow motion turn to look at me), I slam it shut and wake up :S

Then ive had the usual family member dying. Ghosts and such. Ive also had a shark attack nightmare that was pretty bad, happened the day after I cage dived with Great Whites. COuldve been the influence i guess...would have the nightmare on christmas eve too, waking up in sweats and being really white as i wonder through to my mum going 'Merry Christm...Matt you look awful, whats wrong???'

And ive always found when having dreams i WANT to remember, ie ones i only seem to have once, i always forget almost everything about them 10 mins later when im in the shower..really weird.

I only remembered these dreams above because ive had them more than 2 or 3 times.

Oh, yeah, another dream that I guess I'd consider a nightmare. I don't remember a majority of it, but the end I remember the most. I was in an underground sewer with my brother, kinda' like the water plant in FEAR, we had weapons and stuff, and yet we had no idea why - Or even why we're underground, we turn a corner and there is a silo in the centre of a concrete island, surrounded by dirty greenish water - The lighting was very dim, and we stumbled our way towards the silo, until we realized why we needed the weapons.

Ever seen Dawn of the Dead? The fat woman zombie was there, screeching, rushing at us, she somehow managed to miss us and collapse into some of the water. The green of the water shifted around, and to my surprise I realised that the green wasn't water - But some kind of amphibious reptile creature, it ripped the zombie apart, and swirled around the small space as if in a feeding frenzy, letting out loud roars and growls for their next meal. My brother and I panicked as we scaled the silo, afterall, reptiles can't climb a vertical wall, onto the island, then the silo.

We sit there, and suddenly you hear, in a deep and bassy voice, "LEVEL ONE." - It was a mother****ing video game, the lights dim further (I have a bad, bad fear of the dark when I'm alone.), I was on high alert, looking around franticly as I clutch my gun (Which was really just a grey box) desperatley, and my brother was nowhere to be seen - The silhouettes of wolves running in packs stretch across the walls all around me, I turn 180 degrees, and a flash of two green eyes, a wolf's set of teeth and the soon-to-be-cutout sounds of my screaming and the dog's growling followed. I woke up, though not exactly panicked, (I thought hte whole thing was pretty cool, actually.) Though I had scratches all down my face - Which is a common occurance recently with my face an chest. :/

not really a dream but when I was very young i had woken up in the middle of the night into a mid day state of being awake, and then everything around me became really light except that which was already light which became darker (street light outside my room, shadows of fence etc...) and i became temporarily frozen as everything that was dark was drastically becoming more bright and vice versa, and at that moment I somehow defenetly knew that this was aliens inspecting me or doing something to me. I then fell straight back into sleep to remember it the next morning once I had woken up, I was shitting myself with fear. It's not like I'm the kind of guy who believes in aliens either, what I saw was the most genuine thing ever, wether it was some illusion from light or whatever it genuinely happened, and somehow I know that if it was actually some kind of paranormal experience (which admittedly I still think it was due to this unexplainable certainty I had), then I know that i was being examined or something by aliens.

Hell, I think the one I had last night, at least that I can recall.

Started off as just a dream I have on occasion that starts as an isometric view of a giant house (possibly from an old RPG game), then when I got inside, it became zombie apocalypse - creepy mansion edition. Not slow ones either, fast zombies. We did some stuff there, and then it switched to me and a team of people all with sawed-off shotguns clearing cabins looking for someone, meanwhile fighting scorpions that shapeshifted into men with shotguns after one shot, then after two more injected themselves with the zombie serum and rushed ya. Cleared the house looking for some chick, but couldn't find her and left in a wicked SUV. Fast forwarded till we were back in the city, something ****ed up happens that I don't really know how to explain and it ends up with just me and my partner, him driving, now at night. We're chasing a sports car driven by the girl we were looking for, who is either now a zombie or close to it. We turn onto a less crowded twisty road. Then something else I can't recall happens, and I'm outside the car, he's driving away despite me yelling to stop. Then I realize I'm yelling while alone in zombie-apocalypse land, with just a pistol and a flashlight. I run after the car (because of all the turns and me apparently being a kenyan I can largely keep up). Then I run into a pair of people I recognize, calling the man by the name 'Chief'. They give me some sob story of how they were driving along and then something hit their car, the door ripped off, their friend in the back seat 'vomited', and they bolted. Then I look to the left and notice movement in the darkness. I take a shot, but the zombie-thing rips off my right arm jumping past me, then I wake up.

Like damn, I want to get back in there and **** that zombie up with one-arm. Bullshit that I missed.

My worst nightmare would probably have to one of my snake dreams. I'm very phobic of snakes in real life, but in dreams they're even more petrifying.
Another dream, that isn't really a nightmare but scares me a bit, is about this cave. It's huge and really dark, and towards the back it drops away into this huge black lake. It's based on a real cave I've been to, where if you climb down into it about 35-40 feet below is massive black lake which scares the hell out of me, because I keep thinking anything could be in it.
