Pretty much a guy paid this bounty hunter in EVE Online to kill the guild leader of a big guild. He talked to him and auctually became part of the guild. He earned their trust after a year with them (think a year). Then he asked the guild leader if he would join him to do a big bounty hunt...he came and was ambushed by the bounty hunter's friends..They killed tthe guild leader and his excape pod and his body

Then later they went to the guild base, destroyed everyone and everything and took a deposit from their bank. (30 billion)

Aah, this. In PC Gamer a few months ago. But it remains one of the best game-based stories I've ever read, and reminds me of some I've experienced myself.

I found one thats 4 pages long on eve, really good was in the BBC gamesblog.

posted on here before, there are also a couple of other excellent stories like this from eve, makes me really wish i was back into it and there was no fee. :(

Kind of off subject, but I made the best damn looking female avatar EVER in Eve, back when I played it. She was HOT, and I named her Sapphire.

Lol, that was such a great article. PCG ftw!

I'm about as anti-MMO as one could be, but that was a great article. It almost made me want to play an MMO; ALMOST!

It really does remind me of some of the stuff that goes on on the WoW roleplay servers. I'm a private detective/freelance writer with my brother, but while he goes around pissing people off and getting contracts, I go around doing numbers on the people that employ him/us. For example, recently a rich level 60 night elf asked us to find out as much information as we could about a druid and his guild, and to follow him, sending daily reports. While my brother snooped around, I started finding out about our client. I'm the back-up. Soon the objective was spooked, obviously using the friends list to work out where my brother was and moving between zones accordingly; a frenetic chase ensued where both participants saw each other only once. As if it wasn't suspicious enough that the guy knew my brother was after him, this one woman kept appearing everywhere my brother went. This woman also appeared to know about the case and claimed to be a friend of the client's. It's my job to find out what's going on behind the scenes, and now my history coursework is done with I can do just that...

thats is beyond description of cool.

I do feel a bit bad for the other players though.

haha wow. Talk about a hostile takeover.

Well yes sir it is. Sadly, I can't do a darn thingidy about it.

Look at it this way, the issue is months old, and not really availible to buy anymore, it's not really like this wil hurt pcgamer.

By god that was entertaining.

Corporate espionage +1.

But it is still under international copyright law, so it is still illegal.

I had enough gold in World of Warcraft that I would hire horde (I was alliance) to hunt down and kill certain thieves over and over and over. I would usually hire people 66.6s per kill (minimum 5 kills) - I had a rogue rake in over 20g traveling between 5 different regions including Ironforge. Sure, I could have paid 5g for some better boots, but I could care less.
