Are forums cool anymore? Were forums ever cool? What is cool?

Where have all the losers gone? So many of my favourite forums were full of unique and interesting losers and nerds. Now everyone is graduated/married/working full time.

Why did you guys all sell out on me?

I feel betrayed. We were going to change this world now the internet is being emptied of the cool losers and replaced with generic folk. It's sad.

yeah that might be it, you grow tired of the childish senseless humor when the internet can be useful for so much more, or at least when the sense of humor isn't ****ing shit. game related forums seem to suffer from this in particular.

Me too. I think it's the age. Also games don't interest me that much anymore. It's hard to find a game that I could play for hours straight.

Oh the glory days are long gone. The days when I used to play WoW for 12 hours straight, or 9000 Quake 2 rounds in a row. Great achievements.

I think I'll clarify my opinions on the matter:

1. I get bored, oh so bored of the threads in Off-Topic - 'funny' or disturbing news links, invariably followed by calls for culls of 'stupid people', or 'god humanity sucks' - various off-colour 'jokes' (more on those later)

2. The politics forum, which caters to the extremes of both sides, with arguments consisting of a few protagonists armed with wikipedia or biased source links and the rest of the posts consisting of either circle-jerk styled posts supporting their chosen side, or complete irrelevance. However, I do enjoy reading both Mechagodzilla & Repiv's posts, even if I disagree with them.

3. Humour & General tone of the forum, which seems to be geared towards humour consisting of unfunny memes, ‘random’ ness, or puerile American adolescent jokes about rape of some variety. It’s become so very tiresome to read – this isn’t meant offensively, I just don’t find it amusing in the slightest.

I think basically this can be summed up by the fact I really think I’ve grown out of this forum; it’s just not for me anymore.

Idunno, either my standards are lower or I just don't remember how it "used to be" as well as everyone else. It's gotten slower and a bit more repetitive, but I don't see a huge difference besides that.

But yeah, as for the humour, people really have to stop borrowing so extensively from 4chan... except for the imagedump thread

Just keep all the random 4chan shit in that thread (and possible videos in the dump subforum). One of the major things that piss me off and have really added to the downfall of this forum is someone going "OMG RAPE" or "HAHAHA LULZ TO DA PARTY VAN" every five seconds. A subtle(r) reference to such things could be made if it's actually related to the topic, but stuff like this:
