You need to update DirectX. Thats what happened with mine, and it now works perfectly.
 
Downloaded over night, corrupt file. Thx torrentspy.
 
I've played it, it's quite fun. :) Didn't have a chance to play in a proper squad yet, though.

Blowing up the reactor and escaping the Titan before it blows up, screaming "gtfoooo" was amusing :D

Anyone else found the minigun on one of the transport ships useless against infantry? I had 3-4 people not die from the minigun, while I was shooting it at them, burning the ground they were standing on for >=3 seconds. I was kinda "wtf? :/"

Orbital strike has a nice effect on the soldiers (or do emp shockwaves in general cause these distortions?).

Knifed a few people :D My first kill was with a sniper rifle, my second and third were knifes :D


I think I'll go play some more, I hope we'll manage to organise a hl2.net game.
 
It feels like like Star Wars Battlefront 2 in a lot of ways. It's kind of stupid how they didn't include the upgrade system though; it looks like it'll be a good part of the game.
A lot of the time in the demo, my squad and I got into a fast moving car and jumped to each silo, captured, and rinsed and repeated. I ran over at least 10 people in one game. :D

What's really cool in the game is the pod launcher in the APC, where you launch yourself in a "pod" really high in the air. Secondary ppl in the APC can escape safely, but you can also use it to get into the titan. I misslanded on one, so I was stuck on the bottom lip of it until the end XD.

You know what....that's because my browser did a weird thing, and when I ended up posting the reply, it had em both, and I was way too lazy to edit it.
 
why are some of you downloading of torrents??? they are on many servers
 
I tried commander mode, and there seems to be problems with actually seeing the Oribital Strike and EMP doing anything.
 
How the hell do you get onto the enemy's titan? Are jumping from a chopper and trying to land with a pod the only ways?

Yeah, I saw lots of people just landing a transport chopper on the back so we could constantly spawn.

I don't hate it nearly as much as I did the beta. Sure there's still some bugs but I just got out of a bunch of rounds with Unfocused and it was actually pretty fun.

They really should've had some of the upgrade system in the game...there's not even a way to revive people and there are no grenades. So without explosives like 3 support guys can completely defend a terminal in the Titan and just camp.
 
It runs better than bf2 for me.

Its ok, not brilliant though. I won't be buying it.
 
As I said, it's fun, maybe not as fun as BF2, but you'll get your money worth IMHO. The map in the demo looked the least interesting from the ones that will be in the full version BTW, something like Daquing Oilfields to BF2, so I think we have something to look for.

Runs worse than BF2 for me :(

I thought I could expect it to run decent at least on the default settings for my PC (all medium, 800x600, enchanced lightning on, 95% view distance), but it still can go down to 15-20fps ;/

I would also expect more from a 6800GS 128MB/128bit.

I'm guessing reviving and grenades are in the full version? It's 2142 for god's sake!

Yeah, the maps it shows you when finishing a round look a lot better. Especially that town-looking one "Cabera" or something similar.
 
Well I can't play this game for more than 3 min without: "Your connection to the EA server was lost". Its so damn frustrating too because none of you guys have this problem! I turned off my firewall and checked my internet settings and everything is ok. :angry: Anywho I'm still getting Quake Wars. But I did notice many new fixes from the beta and it ran MUCH smother than bf2. Still is laggy though...:rolleyes:
 
yea i dont understand why they didnt put nades and medic stuff in there. i mean the bf2 demo even had that stuff.
 
Heh I did some research on my problem. I'm not the only one in fact, I'm the majority of people playing the demo. Countless threads have popped up with no solution to connections being lost. **** you Dice and Ea, just **** you. :flame:

DMZ your router and call your ISP to open all ports on your router...

That should stop 80% of your connection problems and open yourself to the internet
 
I had a few connection issues when I first downloaded but I've not had one since. DICE said it was an issue with the amount of players, they added a few more servers and think most of those problems should go away. 10,000 people playing a demo doesn't surprise me they have some connection issue with the master server.

In any case I like the game, didn't like Titan initially because nobody played the damn thing properly, but I had fun trying to defend our Titan from incoming enemies. The good thing is that the woman voice tells you where to go and it's all color coded so it's easy for noobs to get into.
 
I'm having fun. They fixed my major gripe from the beta, which was the fact that I couldn't jump more than a few inches off the ground. It also feels less like a mod in my opinion now...can't explain why, just had that feeling playing the beta, but not in the demo.

I wish they would've allowed you to get unlocks though. You really can't see how the customization works in the demo, which is a very big draw of this game. Plus it's a big tease when you're in a firefight and you get shot, and there are all these assault classes around you but you know they can't heal you. Same thing with being squad leader and wanting to set up a beacon. They should've at least allowed level 1 unlocks.

Short answer they'd lose customers. Just look at how many people are content playing nothing but Karkland. Besides the games going to be released soon.
 
I keep getting random master server disconnections while playing. :|

this is a step backward from BF2 technology.

Yeah, like point&click, press some keys and you've got points, how hard is that? Come up with something better DICE!
 
It was my router doing something with my connection. But my antivirus blocked 3 trojans from getting in my computer without my router. :hmph: So anyways bf2142 is a mod of bf2 with better graphics. Thats my summary anyways. Oh and Dice better do something with this internet connection because I'm not gonna get a trojan.

Maybe your playing with idiots? It's a fun game and unlocks do make the difference. It is a more team focused game than BF2 is thanks to Titan mode and can be really fun with some decent team mates.
 
Conquest and Titan are essentially the same thing... the only difference is Titan has a final assault at the end.

It's bad, most people have coverd why so I don't really need to comment.

The game is literally BF2 with different skins, what a con.
 
I haven't played it enough to really give a good opinion. But then again I did fall in love with BF2 instantly. And this, well it's just bad, very very bad IMO.
Only thing that kicks ass is the mech's. I enjoyed the weapons, vehicles and maps more in BF2. But i'm going to play the full version at a friends house, and maybe with the unlocks I will like it more. Who knows.
But it just feel really really bad.
