Black Mesa scientists in front of Borealis...

It's Breen, Magnusson didn't really exsist (apart from being in HL1) back then.

Valve didn't deside to bring him back in until after the episodes were in production.

Apologies if someone else has already done this, but I have an image I put together you may want to see.

Also, does anyone have a list of the names on the locker doors in the Black Mesa locker room, so I can cross them off, perhaps? I know they're Valve staff for the most part (or perhaps even entirely) but it'd be handy to know if Judith Mossman and Magnusson are listed there.

That pretty much seems to sum it up. With added moustache, you can visibly see the resemblance.

Okay, back to where all of this started...The scientists and the Borealis...You will need a little program called VTFEdit, found here: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=149. Look in C:/Program Files/Valve/Steam/SteamApps/episode two materials/ep 2/materials/Props/borealis_01.vtf. The one that started the hype is found .....ep 2/materials/effects/borealis_filmslide.001.vtf. Here, I'll do it for you:

And while I'm at it, a couple no clips:

Why does the filmstrip pic look so cheesy? I think a couple of programers were out getting drunk and this happened:
Pro1: Hey! Let's screw with the fans..
Pro2: Okay, what do you wanna do this time?
Pro1: Well ya know how they love to go through all the game files?
Pro2: Yeah, why, I have no idea..
Pro1: Let's put a picture in there that looks fake, and see how many forum threads get started about it!
Pro2 Yeah! I got just the picture to start with too, ya know the one with all the scientists in it......

Goddamn it take those damn images out of image tags so they can stop raping the screen width!

Better? Jeez, take the time to find the pics, convert the format, upload 'em, and somebody gets pissy 'cause they can't use the little slider at the bottom of their screen.....

This picture doesnt make a whole lot of sense. Story line put aside, where are they standing?! If its out in the ocean like in the picture, wouldn't they be on it!? I suppose the only other thing i can think of is that they are on a differnt ship... its still a silly picture seeing as its just copied from the other one.

does anyone have the technical skills to pull that writing off the photo of the two scientists in front of the Borealis? It might be a clue.

Which writing? The horribly pixelated writing in the background on the ship? You do realise you can't "unpixelate" something. It's like unfrying an egg.

I meant the writing in the upper right corner of the photo. But Idk what people can do maybe someone can do something who knows?

The "ISO 64"?
It's just a measure of how fast the film is. The other numbers around the film "border" are also just reference marks (ie, the width of the film strip).

In the actual photograph, not the border. There appears to be writing in the upper right, and what seems like a doodle of a small girl in the upper left.

yeah, why would I ask someone to find out what it says if its obviously readable?

anyway here's as much as I've been able to discern

the _s stand for letters or symbols i can't make out

Now I could be wrong about one or more of these character's so it's be cool if there was someone who knew how to do it better then me.

As for me I can't even begin to speculate on what it means or dosen't mean.

Ah, I didn't see that. The image in the top left looks like a stamp or coffee stain.

See it, but can't read it, what does it say? (you mean the picture with scientists in front of borealis, right?)

yes the picture with the scientists in front borealis.

in an above post I said everything I can make out but what I can make out makes no sense so i'm kind of stuck.

Borealis summary:
  • The Borealis has not been presented thus far as a single coherent vessel.
  • The Film Slide depicts the Russian Nuclear Icebreaker "Russia". (Click "English" at the top of the page to see a translation of the Russian writing on the photo.)
  • The in-game model in Episode 2 appears to be based on, though not an exact duplicate of, the USCG Icebreaker Healy.
  • The Profile Diagram depicts the USCG Icebreaker Polar Star.
  • Almost all of the "blueprints" come from the USS Newport News. (Specifically, this and this come from Main Deck Aft and the bottom part of this comes from the 4th Level. I haven't been able to place the upper part of that image.)
