i know its a bit early in the day but i was wandering what character or event will be on the EP2 box art.

any ideas?

my view of it is that it wont be any characters (which it usually is) it'll be somethin to do with the big battles in the forest or somethin.

That would be so good. I really, really liked the Episode 1 box art - much better than the GORDON FREEMAN face of the HL2 box (yey, you go Vivendi).

That box art rocks my socks... but damn it I want some consistency with the box art like the Call of Duty series and such (you know, the soldier yelling at you in front of a set piece battle).

I would like consitancy between boxes but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. They should put the Portal character, a Vortigaunts and Heavy Weapons Guy on the cover.

I don't really like xirow's cover. It seems to be suggesting Alyx as the focus again when she's not, in fact, it almost looks like Gordon looking back at her annoyed, as if she's beggining to get on his nerves. Also, as Samon said, it looks a bit crowded.

I would like the box art to retain the 'photo realistic' Gordon (or another character for that matter) on the front, I think it suits Half-Life 2 better than the drawing of Alyx for Episode One.

My thoughts too. Plus, there's no way the cover won't scream from the tree tops that it also includes Portal and TF2. And rightly so. It's just that it could make the box look rubbish like that one in the MTV trailer D:

Also, I very much doubt Gordon would have to fight Alyx. The "Oh noes my friend is now my enemy D:" plot "twist" is horribly cliched.

Yes, but when and how that occurs is a total different ball game. What's more, we don't know the motive behind the 'capture' of Alyx.

It will be interesting to see how much of the trailer actually makes sense when we've played through the game. Because trailers almost always show stuff that doesn't happen or cut scenes to make them look completely different.

anyway back on topic,

it probably will have Alyx on the box art because (after Gordon) she is basically the main character.

Hmmm... maybe a couple of strips across the cover, with probably the eyes of key characters for each game.

Although how they'll pull that off for Portal is anybody's guess.
