The Decadence Development Team have been very busy working behind closed doors on their highly ambitious 100% custom content project, and doing a great job. Since we last updated you the mod is actually up and running, with lots of game testing to tweak their product. No release date stated yet, but hopefully it won't be too far off. Below are a few screenshots showing the working build, including an image of the player taking damage, you may also notice Decadence has no HUD. Another interesting update, includes some further details on their "Capture System"
Every map in Decadence is divided into three smaller levels or arenas as we like to call them. The neutral arena is where the match starts out in, with two base arenas belonging to each of the teams. Each team fights over control of the water node in each arena of the map and when a water node has been taken over, the game moves on to the adjacent arena in favor of the winning team. The match will go back and forth like a tug-of-war until one team has captured the water node in the enemy's base arena.

See the full news update on the new capture system over at the Decadence website

I really like the environment.

Reminds me of the Wasteland mod for HL... good times.

The texture on the left arm looks really low-res.

They've done one hell of a good job with Source Engine. I give all my respect to them as they have done everything 100% custom, no HL2 props or textures used anywhere. This is how mods should be done, totally custom content!

Nice you noticed that :) It's something we're going for, 99% total conversion (we probably won't change the flame animation etc, hence the 99% :p)

-Psycho-,

Yes, you're right, but we won't change it now! It's something we all have to live with.

looking great ! 100% custom content for the wins.

It's right to applaud ~100% custom content mods but you're only narrowing the amount of enjoyment to be had if you're going to expect that from all mods. If all mods went for 100% custom even less would ever see the light of day.

Also please note that this mod is made by students working in very close contact with eachother. This is part of what enables them to aim for and deliver on their ~100% custom content promise. Hardly any other mods are able to meet up in person and put their heads together. It's the ideal team setup that most mods should try to go for when they start out but understandably it's rarely possible.

The arena-level setup is great. Funnily enough it was exactly how I thought Hydro would work when I first played it (I was bitterly disappointed when I realised it was vaguely randomised and the final points were so impossible to defend it made back and forth play near impossible).

Er, no.
