E3 2006 \ Metal Gear Solid 4 Teaser Trailer (PS3)

He probably won't even kill himself. Kojima has said Snake doesn't die in MGS4.
 
Yeah, if something as big as him committing suicide actually did end up happening in the game, there's no way they would spoil it in a freakin' teaser-trailer.

OMFG! Iff seing the Spore test play and the crysis demo wasnt good enough. They gave me exactly what I wanted, MGS4!! When I watched that teaser and saw all the characters they were reintroducing I was like holy crap lol, even Raiden (and you know we Metal Gear fans always hated Raiden atleast I did, but I have a feeling he will be much cooler now and actually be helpful to the storyline). And seeing Solid with the gun in his mouth literally made me gasp....No MGS5!?!? I will sell my soul for this game,its really the only reason I plan on getting a PS3(Besides more Resident evil sequals :) ) cuz everybody knows consoles suck :P God im excited! lol

See, this article does not apply to me, because it assumes that I am a "retardedly obsessed male fanboy." I'll ignore the grammatical errors in that label and just focus on how I'm not one. (I stopped after I read that, so I don't really know the substance of the article, so excuse me if I repeat anything from there in this post.)

It's not that I like Snake, MGS, or all that stuff all that much...it's just that Raiden is so...well...beyond description, in truth.

He's not actually all that gay, as anyone who paid attention in MGS2 would know.

He IS just the teeensiest bit stupid. i.e. "Key?"

He's not a terrible soldier, and is actually quite the badass. He might even be better than Snake, considering how he dispatched Solidus.

Maybe it was his voice actor, though that might be untrue because I've enjoyed Quinton Flynn in other games such as Kingdom Hearts two and movies like Advent Children.

My, for lack of a better expression, "bad feelings" toward Raiden may actually have to be lumped in the same section with those for the Segue personal transport device, the skeeter, and kids who love Pokemon beyond the original gameboy games.

I just don't like 'em. No explanation given, cuz quite frankly I can't give one. Does the fact that I can't produce an actual reason for not liking him obligate me to, in fact, like him? I don't believe it does, and indeed, I shall feel no such obligation, barring future events (MGS4).
 
Can someone provide me with a link to the storyline? I finished MGS1, was close to the end in MGS2 but then lost my savegames due to a HDD failure. I haven't even seen MGS3 (was it even on the PC?; sorry I kinda lost interest then).

I'm really curious what happened to Raiden, why is he a cyborg, or whatever that was ;)

Well, even us who know the storyline for the first 3 couldn't tell you that, I'm sure. It's not explained in the third one.

Yup, I also watched the trailer for the MGS Portable Ops for the PSP, I have to get that what with being a nut for the original Metal Gear (Solid included ofcourse, duh) canon..
I'll be getting a PSP when that's out :p
By then the PSP will also be a bit cheaper hopefully..
 
What I don't get is why when Snake is chased in the beginning by what appears to be US soldiers who think he's lead an uprising, they have the models of the RUSSIAN soldiers from MGS3, I sure hope this is just a placeholder and they take the time to make "proper" US soldier models for'em.:p

I think the trailer was using the in-game engine? That's how the other MGS games did it.
 
Yeah but imo in-game and ACTUAL GAMEPLAY isn't the same thing.. Cutscenes and gameplay are two different things..
 
They looked the same in MGS2 and MGS3. Kojima likes to make the transistions from gameplay to cut-scene seem like they aren't transistions at all.
 
The trailer was amazing. Seems like they fixed the writing too, actually seemed decent and not as ... Japanese as the previous ones. And the in-game graphics will look almost exactly the same as the cutscenes, that's the way they've always done it and that's the way they're doing it with MGS4.
 
That 15 minute trailer was definately awesome. I wish I had a higher quality one though.

It seems like Raiden will be the 'new' snake. In the trailer it calls him "Solid Snake", then it changes to "Old Snake". Hmmmm, wonder who is going to be "New Snake"? Possibly Meryl!? Haha.

Oh and LOL @ Raiden breakdancing with Metal Gears.

man I really enjoyed the 15 mins video, a perfect game at last from Sony.
 
Kojima tends to repeat himself a lot, for his own amusement really.
So there is a big chance that once again only 1/5 of the game will be with snake and the other part with Raiden. Which would be a shame IMO, I never played with a geezer and it would be interesting if halfway trough he was in a wheelchair and the gameplay looked a little bit like that of munche's oddysee.
That would be so cool, kicking mg ass with a geezer in a wheelchair.

BTW does anyone remember that flash video called "decline of video gaming",

Never said they didn't, however, one PERCIEVES'EM in different ways because when you PLAY the game, the camera view points don't magically change all the time as if you were watching a cutscene?
My point is that when watching a cutscene the camera ANGLES etc are more refined and thus gives a more "perfect" graphical look imo.:p
Anyway, I hope we don't get a new Snake..

I want'em to ****ing end the MGS canon with this fourth game, with a bang, and not turn it into Final Sequel-Fantasy.:)

mgs allways looked better in gameplay then in the cutscenes, cause in the cutscene you get to see the chars and area's up close with all the imperfections clearly visible, when in gameplay on the other hand the camera is mostly zoomed out and everything looks nice. + mgs games never ever looked worse then what was presented in trailers.
 
if this trailer is like the old mgs games e3 trailers the graphics will get better, by the time mgs2 was released the graphics had improved considerably from the first e3 trailer shown, particurly the initial tanker landing, there was much more water effects etc...

Except there don't seem to be any imperfections. Look at the close-up of Liquid Ocelet's face in the 15 minute trailer. PHWOAR.
 
This is the most epic thing I have ever seen.

I don't feel sad that Snake dies in MGS4, he's an old man, but it certainly won't be an enemy that kills him, not Solid Snake.

The wait for this is going to be hard.
 
Whether he shoots himself or not, Naomi says he only has 6 months to live. So barring prequels, spin-offs, expansions, or an extremely lame plot twist that pulls Snake around at the last minute, this will be the final Solid Snake. And it definitely looks like it's going out on an epic note.

They'll likely remove the 'Solid' and re-title it (ie. Metal Gear [blank]). Although whether Kojima spearheads the project is another matter altogether :/

Also, to you other guys, to each man his own, but I felt the cutscenes usually looked better than actual gameplay.:p
