Hey all,
I just purchased hl2 but i cant get it to install properly, it gives me the same error over and over again:

Error 1334, file hl2.ico cannot be found in hl24.cab.

After that i cant do anything just rollback and start over again. I copied all the cd content to my hdd , no luck also.
$#@$# i really want to play, plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

I'm getting the same thing. This coupled with the fact that I can't install it in my games directory, AND the fact that I've got to install modem drivers and a firewall on my games PC... it's pissing me off before I've even started.

I too have exactly the same issue. Bought a DVD copy, got the error, took it back and swapped it...Same error !!!

Can't get through to their customer support either...Just tells me to try again later or send an email !!!!

ARGH!

Right...Just opted to install the CS:Source as well this time (de-selected it last time), and it worked first time !!!

Don't know why, but erm, it's now installed.

You're right you know. I had cancelled CS before, but now it's installed ok when it was selected.

wtf!

Hmm, I unfortunatly don't have a solution for ya, but if you can than preload the game or if one of your friends has the preloads ask them if they will copie it to cd's and then you could install, but this could also be just that all the cd's are ****ed up, it happend to me when I bought BG&E,
it seemed that Ubi soft had thousands of cd's burned badly and had them distributed in holland and they were aware of the problem but never said anything and the store chains the same they know about it but no one is telling, hey but anyways the game is so good, I feel really sorry for ya, if I stumble on to the solution then I will post it immidietly

oh so now ill go install cs source....i c...mother ****er!

Empty your Temp directory, Windows 2000 & XP

C:\Documents and Settings\XXXX\Local Settings\Temp

where XXXX is your logon name of the computer.

Once empty, reboot and try again.

Obviously a cross-dependency issue if it works when you install CS:S with it.

That sucks!

Well the story sounds familiar.

But as it happens in the story i heard, the same DVD that wouldn't work on one computer installed perfectly on another. I think it may be down to the fact that the computer you are using sucks! Upgrade and retry... I think that's the answer! Or throw away that crappy ATI graphics card and get a better one... like Nvidia

Poor Souls

Oh while you guys are dealing with the problems there, i'll be playing Half Life 2. If you need me, give me a call. It's really a great game. You should buy a copy! I got hardly ANY sleep last night because i was playing it :afro: .

But above all things. Good Luck!

:monkee: :monkee: :monkee: :monkee: :monkee: :dork:
