Have you ever seen the body of a dead person in real life (ie, not on photographs, television, etc). Open-casket funerals included.

I haven't.

Do you mean, like, just-dead (i.e. saw the death) or just lying in a casket. If the latter, the polls will be slightly one-sided.

I saw my grandfather die, and saw my grandmother in her coffin at a wake.

The body.

They don't have open caskets everywhere, you know.

Yes. Several.
1 open casket of someone I didn't know and a visit to a gross anatomy lab.

Never actually seen a dead person, oddly enough. All my family is in Wisconsin, so for any funerals they just go and leave me and my brother here.

Nope.

Apparently, my dad saw a dude try and jump in front of an underground train, but he mis-timed it, and got trapped between the train and the platform, and the train spread his innards aaaaallll the way along the station. :(

Yes - my brother just after he died.

i once saw a dead body on the street after a car accident.

Yeah. Car wreck, Highway 80.

Car got t boned by an 18 wheeler. Half the body was hanging out the passenger door, entrails the only thing connecting the two halves. Windshield looked like it had recieved a pretty good paint job.

I was unphased. :|

My grandfather, my great grandmother, and my uncle. Seen them all at funerals.

I've seen a dead man from a crime scene. Was walking to the pub with some friends to watch a football game when we came across it in the middle of town. Area had been taped off, but we could all see the blood puddling and slowly coming out of the hallway in which it happened, and could catch a few glimpses of the body. Guy had been hacked with a big ****ing blade.

Yes at funerals...

My brother has a wonderful job of cleaning up dead bodies on the coast, gotta love them Coast Guard boys...

Yup, in a hospital... funnily enough they look just the same as when they were alive.

Yep, both grandmothers.

One in the hostpital, and both at the funeral.

Hold on, let me just set this mirror up...

When I was on an airport bus in Turkey, we hit a guy on a motorbike who had run a red light. Felt the body and bike go under the bus and saw the bike and body rolling behind. Really put a downer on my day. Seen a couple more due to the large amount of car crashes on the hill we live in.

Not glamorous or exciting.

What happened afterwords?

Well, we were stopped on the side of a road for about 2 hours while everything was cleaned up and stuff. Then the bus was escorted to the police station for another hour. There the driver was arrested. And every single one of us had to make a statement to the only guy who spoke English in the station. By this time it was about 5 am. Then they got us a new coach which broke down on the way to us. While we were waiting, a policeman pulled away from the station and ran over a dog... which also died. Then the coach arrived, half the women in tears, and the rest of us with faces like "What have we done?." Then the rep came to us the next day in our hotel and told us that the boy had died and that the driver would probably never be allowed to drive again.

The rest of the holiday was perfect, but that night was one of the worst in my life.

Reminds me of that video they show you at Driver's Ed classes, it was called "Red Asphalt 3". It was some nasty shit...

You said the guy on the bike had ran a red light....

:o

Never seen a family member die, but I once saw a guy die at a subway station. He just fell without warning, like he had a heart attack or something.

At the time, I didn't even know he was dead, until I saw the news that day.
