In my backyard there's a bridge that crosses the creek. While I used to like sitting down there under the trees reading, fishing or just walking around, I can't anymore since some "gangsta" douchebag wiggers decided to tag the concrete on both sides under the bridge over the course of a few months.

Since cracking the skulls of the American chav is still illegal in New York, I have two questions:

a) Is there a way to remove this thug shit off my bridge?

and

b) Is it legal to take off spray paint graffiti on public edifices?

Don't remove anything unless you want to get shot.

Remember, wear a lifejacket if you want to remove the paint.
Life jackets +10hp according to imagedump

a) Not sure, but there's definitely a way, how do you think it's done. Look at some solvents, and if that doesn't work you could always just paint over it in a concrete color.

b) Who knows... but nobody is going to get angry at you for cleaning up gang graffiti, that's for damn sure.

Acetone works great, but you'd need more than half a liter and may have to scrub. You can get some at the pharmacy, probably.

Over here it costs $0.7 ~ $1 per 100ml.

as for the legalities, I dunno.

edit: I'm not exactly sure about how acetone may work on concrete

With the exception of the actual gang, and that's why I think he should wait a bit before he does anything that will get his arse beaten. Because it sounds like they just put it up.

I would suggest contacting your city about the legality of removing graffiti from public property.

Oh right, I forgot that gang members also install hidden cameras everywhere they tag. :upstare:

It's a slight risk, but there's very VERY low chance of them catching him cleaning it, and they probably wouldn't do shit anyway because 1) they expect it to be cleaned up and 2) he lives right there and so his cleaning it is vaguely legitimate, they wouldn't beat up a city maintenance worker cleaning it either.

I wouldn't touch it. Too worried about getting beat up or killed by gang members or wannabe gang members.

Actually, its been up there for a good long while.

I just am sick of seeing it now that spring has sprung in Buffalo.

I'm also not afraid of a couple thugs. The "gangsters" at my old high school were pussies.

I guess I can take some pictures when I get home on friday.

But then again, gangstas are ****ing morons, and will take offense at any slight against them and typically respond in a retardedly blown out of proportion method (guns or knives usually). And I doubt they would say "Oh well its in his back yard so whatever." If anything, they would probably think "Some ****** erased our tag, probably this mother****er in the house right there. Lets us begin the stabbing!"

Outdoor cats?

House cats (they fell out of the window when they were kittens and are terrified of going outside) that have killed countless moles and rats.

Pics of those two also coming on friday.

Well, not really. I've been around gangs and gang members my entire life, they're relatively reasonable most of the time and worry mostly about ****ing with each other than other people. Also he said the people that did this were white in which case there's even less to worry about.

Idunno, outdoor cats could have provided protection, because those things are vicious. But house cats... not so much. I'd say you'd be pushing it.

Just because they're white, if they're representing a legitimate gang, that doesn't make them any less dangerous. One of the most dangerous prison gangs is a white gang... a racist neo-nazi gang. Aryan Brotherhood... who are on good relations with the Mexican Mafia which rules most of the Mexican gangs on the streets.

They're responsible for a little over 1/4th of the murders in prisons.

It's not racist, it's true. There are some scary ass white thug types, but there are more scary ass black or latino thug types. And if we're talking a couple of white kids in a presumably decent to affluent neighborhood drawing gang graffiti on something as low-profile and unimportant as a bridge in some guy's backyard there is a much higher chance that they're wannabe fagtards than dangerous gang members.

That's enough arguing Ennui! One more word and I'll ban you!

1) Contact your local authority & file a report. In NYC it's 3-1-1 to report Graffiti.
http://www.nyc.gov/html/sbs/nycbiz/html/managing/graffiti.shtml

GRAFFITI REWARD PROGRAM
Members of the public are eligible for up to a five hundred dollars ($500.00) reward for reporting graffiti vandalism in progress through 911 or providing information regarding graffiti vandalism to the City-Wide Vandals Task Force through 311. The information must result in the arrest and conviction of individual(s) for violations of Administrative Code Provisions or Penal Law Statues regarding graffiti vandalism. This program will be administered by the City-Wide Vandals Task Force.

If after following all the correct procedures does not work, then invest in one of these.

Though I would advised buying the silenced version, so that you can sleep through the night. As the taggers start, the weapon picks them off & thus dropping them into the water below, where their bodies will provide food for those creatures swimming below.

at my last job, they had an can of something that removes graffiti/vandalism. It's some kind of industrial solvent in an aerosol can.

Real gangs do write graffiti (marking territory for drug sales, etc.), but it's probably a bunch of punk ass kids. That doesn't mean they can't be dangerous as hell. I've seen a 14 year old get shot in the chest by some teens in a drive-by. On my street - in the suburbs.

I'm curious what do the tags say?

Take some pictures.

I'm sure if you googled "how to remove graffiti" you might get something.

Jesus christ, you guys make it sounde like these wankstas are hired mercenaries, paid per kill.

They're probably just a bunch of white kids dressed in overly baggy shirts and shorts. They're not some sort of rampant breed of human being, they're regularly people, just like you and me (meaning SEMI SENSIBLE), they just dress and act like ****tards.

They're probably not going to be stupid enough to risk police intervention just to get some stupid fuggin revenge over a spot they found.

Regular people dont "tag" things. Only gang members do.

I know several people who "tag" things because they think they're making art. Some people enjoying making graffiti.

just write "sucks" next to whatever they wrote...

I thought tagging was different than usual graffiti in that a tag is a symbol of a gang's territory?

Nah a tag is any simple symbol/word usually in one color. Most basic form of graffiti. Gang members tag for their gangs but there are a lot of people who tag just for themselves. I used to when I was into graffiti but I grew out of it.

buy nitro solvent. it's the usual solvent for all kinds of paint, it's pretty cheap to. you can use a brush to apply it on the wall.

but for long term solution i'd really invest in one of those automatic targeting SMGs

I'd ask the city about it before I did anything.
