Well after all the rumors and hype, the iPhone has been released by apple; and it looks friggen sweet! Its all touch sensor based, features multi touch technology (remember that really sweet multi touch tech that some company showed off a while ago, well this thing HAS IT!), and runs OS X, hot damn! plays music, movies, tv shows, all on a high-res widescreen. It also has bluetooth and wifi. And a 2MP camera! Has an 8gb HDD too.
Has google maps on the go!!!!
And it uses basically OS X software - like the browser, photo app and itunes.....so cool.

well, their logic is that your paying for a cellphone and an iPod....which I guess makes some sense.....
and I remember that it took the iPod a few years to come down in price....and besides - this thing has tech that no other device on the market has - of course they are going to charge a premium for it.

Sounds like Apple's been listening to Sony for their pricing. ;)

well the original ipod cost $499 - its just going to take time for these things to come down in price - new tech like this doesn't come cheap.

seems complety pointless imo,but that just me. someone else might want to spend alot on it. i like everything on it except i dont need gigs of space. my zune suites me well.

It looks awesome but I could never afford that.

It looks nice but I won't be getting it...

- Screen scratches... Hell for the iPod a lot of people have the plastic covering that covers the screen but most (not all) tend to not cover the click wheel since it can screw up the touch sensing. I think putting a screen on this could lead to more inaccuracies.

- Small icons? Hard to touch

- Texting will SUCK... I mean a huge complaint a lot of people (including myself) had with the phones such as the RAZR is that you always had to look at your phone and be careful of the buttons you click because you can't exactly feel where the keys start and end... Now with a completely smooth surface, it's going to suck trying to get your fingers on individual keys. I also don't enjoy predictive key entry.

- iPod head phones for phone calls? Really? I'll go bluetooth.

- Price... Man, only true Apple hardcore fans will buy this now... I think I'll take another look at it in a few years when the price is down and it's a more mature product.

Overall, it will probably please every Apple fans dreams since people have been waiting for this for forever... They do have some nice innovations in it, but TBH there's almost a point where Apple has done something that is almost too much Apple and simplicity that it will make it hard to penetrate the market with since it's a radical change from what we're used to.

Yea, there's a slide and they talk about it... They have new special iPhone headphones that look almost exactly like iPod head phones except theres a small microphone on one of the ends that you squeeze to pick up or hang up the current call.

Obviously that's an accessory and you can of course hold it up to your ear.

And Nintendo for their innovation (see: DS touchescreen, though Apple takes it one step further by reminding us that we each were born with 10 styluses at our diposal*! :O)

*-Not including a stylus helps keep costs down too :hmph: ...
