This is not a typical job ad. It is a detailed explanation of the position, project, team, and why this game will succeed. It is very long, and kind of ?ranty.? It is written this way due to our lack of experience and because you're only receiving profit share rather than a salary. Such circumstances require more persuasion and details. But this is a very serious endeavor that will be a big part of your life, so you should want to know as many details as possible before joining. I would, at least.

If you don?t want to read the whole thing right now, at least read the 4 main selling points.

Why You Should Join Our Team:

1. I am completely convinced that you will not find an indie team with a better marketing campaign than ours, simply because I have the proper mindset and I?ve done more research. Read more under Marketing.

2. Guaranteed profit share. Goal & estimation of over $100,000 gross revenue within the first year of release. This is not just a whimsical guess. It is based on 8 months of extensive, objective market research. Read more under Compensation.

3. Guaranteed finished game to put on your resume. I am absolutely determined to not only finish this game, but ensure that it is a success. I am going to do everything in my power to make this my career. Read more under Compensation also.

4. This is an excellent team to join. Not only will you be paired up with a top-notch marketer, you also get assistance & guidance from an experienced programmer, and a young, dedicated programmer to help with tedious, grunt work. Best of all, you will join a talented, devoted artist, and a brilliant designer who will ensure that this game is perfectly designed. Read more under Team Structure.

I'm pretty skeptical (understatement) about this entire Project, but to give you a chance I signed up to the mailing list. I have to ask, what are you running here? A development house or a religion? I clicked the “confirm” link and I was presented with this gem:

“You have made the right choice.”

Thank you oh benevolent J Force Games; I pledge thy soul to this pilgrims mission.

If you're as dedicated as you sound, then you should just learn programming yourself.

Your selling points failed to sell it to me.

Considering you claim to be amazing at 'Marketing' - why is it I have read your post and have no clue what your game is about or why I should visit the main page? Why is there no visual stimulus in your advert (afterall, this is the internet, not a telegraph)?

I'll just leave it at that and wish you good luck.

HAHAHA!

I already tried, and I seriously felt like I was wasting my time. I just don't think I have the mental capacity to do it. Even if I kept on trying and really, really put my mind to it, it would still take me much longer then the average person to become competent. And even then, I would take way too long to code things that others could code in half the time. My mind is not mathematically inclined.

And besides, IMO every indie team needs a marketer. There is ALWAYS another way to market a game. It's a full-time job just like programming, and somebody needs to do it while the programmers do their work. I feel very confident in my marketing skills, like I was born to do this. Point is, I wouldn't want to program a game while somebody else markets it. Marketing is my thing. Of course, I could do both, but then one will suffer.

All the info and art is at the website. If this post didn't prompt you to visit it, then I failed as a marketer. But if you say you haven't visited I won't believe you.

What? Crispy didn't say anything unbelievable. He just gave his opinion on your initial post. He has nothing to prove.

Whether he visited it or not isn't the point. The point is that the "pitch" does not say anything about the game. It rambles about profits, how perfect the game will be, and how much we should trust someone with "izzle" in his name that we know nothing about.

I can speak for a few of us, when I say that we went to the site to lol, not because we were intrigued.

I did visit the site, but only out of bewilderment and to find out how legit your profit-making scheme was (don't kid yourself that that's your 'angle').

When I got there I can assure you I didn't stay long, only long enough to see that you have enough to show for yourselves that you don't need to rest on a brittle marketing crutch to get people interested. You obviously have a passion for Indie games, so stop pretending to be good at marketing and use your real strengths to your advantage.

I'm the world's most talented... well, everything.

But my name doesn't start with a J.

I'm sorry.
