Valve are continuing Team Fortress 2's Christmas tradition with the unveiling of "The Mecha-Update", a Mann vs Machine focused update taking place sometime after the events of the failed robot invasion of the Decoy, Mannworks and Coal Town maps.
The update page provides information on the brand new Mann vs Machine map, "Big Rock", which is highlighted as being the largest yet. "Shadow Boxers", a new comic released on the update page, tells the story of how the Soldier, the Heavy and Miss. Pauling managed to infiltrate Gray Mann's island base to uncover the secrets of his newly unveiled Mecha-Engineer robot capable of teleporting itself and nearby allies short distances across the map. The update will also include a set of special new Engineer themed botkiller weapons as rewards for completing the new Tour of Duty.
While Mann vs Machine is definitely the point of focus for this update, standard Team Fortress 2 players can also hope to receive a large variety of new loot in the form of ski masks, reindeer balloonicorns and headpieces, reef badges, some brand new weapons for the Engineer, Demoman and Medic, and much more. Don't forget about the Naughty and Nice crates which have already made a return this year after being included in a patch last week.
The update has officially gone live after an official post on the Team Fortress 2 blog highlighted the reveal of the new "Mann Co. Online Store". The store acts as a web browser equivalent of the in-game Mann Co. Store, allowing you to purchase items without even having to start your game up! We know how important your hats are to you. Now get out there and kill some Mecha-Engineers!
