seems a lot more like kotor than neverwinter nights which is an improvement imo ..and the single player is supposed to be good this time around

dont know when I'll pick it up ..it isnt in stock at the local best buy and I really dont have that much time for a new game atm ...may pick it up in a few weeks (still holding my breath for gothic3)

any of you who've already bought this game please post your impressions

oops sorry but this thread is more for reviews/player impressions ..yours is for ...umm saying it's coming out soon :E

Please be good please be good please be good :)

Please be good please be good please be good :)

ya hope so too ..although I'm starting to think Gothic 3 could be good if they iron out the performance issues ..hopefully the patch following the US release will fix the biggest problems

funny thing is about the nov 3rd release date in canada ..the US is an hour and a bit away from me ..wha? they cant drive a few copies north of the border? ...tsk tsk just another in a long list of reasons to nuke the US of A (I'm kidding!!!! ............. maybe)

meh you insert it everywhere else so no surprise there :naughty:

lazy canucks.

Just another in a long list of reasons why Canada will never be #1

I get it shortly. I'll let everybody know what I think of it initially. Fios and neverwinter nights 2 on the same day. Good times people. GOOD TIMES.

EDIT: Okay I have the game now, but in order to play it i'll need to spend some time adjusting the graphics levels to something that better fits my computer. I might not do it tonight, have other things to do.

Do it, do it now ! Or I'll eat your children. :O

If it's Forgotten Realms, then it should be good stuff.

Hint: think Baulders Gate.

What kind of comp you got? I wanna know if I can run this.

radeon 9800 pro 128mb graphics card

intel pentium 4 2.8ghz processor with hyperthreading

120 gb hard drive(about 25 gigs free, but it is all defragmented)

1024mb pc3200 DDR ram

I have the graphics turned on high textures, as well as some graphics intensive things like full shadows and stuff.

EDIT: multiplayer can only allow up to 4 players? This is outrageous!

I just picked this up at Best Buy today. They didn't have it on the shelves, but I aksed one the the employees and he got one from the back. Make sure you update it before you play it, there's already a pretty big patch out.

I just got it too and have been playing for about an hour or so. Its awesomely fun, but it runs pretty poorly on my system though (P4 3.6Ghz, 1GB RAM, x850xt pe). Am I doing something wrong? I have tried turning the settings way down, but it still is choppy in the swamp....

Got FF12 too, but will have to play that one tomorrow...bedtime now.

EDIT: Glad I am not the only one:

My PC will happily run Oblivion at nearly maximum settings, but 10FPS is the best I can eke out here, though I can't begin to see why.

These things are weird. I guess sometimes you get lucky with the right combination of stuff. I could play mostly anything on high, and my computer is a few years old. But Dark Messiah wasn't even playable on high.

I hope this runs better.

on shacknews someone with a simliar rig (p4 3.0) to yours was getting 30fps

someone somewhere else suggested turning off v-synch in your vid card panel cuz the game doesnt have that option

Neverwinter Nights 2 is one of the first sequels I've seen that actually has fewer features than than its antecedent. Additionally, I'm a little perplexed as to why the focus was shifted toward single-player when what made the first title worth a damn was its multiplayer. I guess since the only place computer DnD fans have to go to make their own adventures is Neverwinter Nights 2, Obsidian figured it could afford to lure another market in as well and not worry about improving that part of the game.

Whatever.. I'll probably still get it. I guess its that time of the year again to drudge through another role-playing game based on a system designed specifically for multiple people... alone. I suppose the terrifying engine will make things interesting until some modules start coming out.

I thought NWN2's main campaign could be played in co-op? If this isn't the case it goes right off my christmas list.

Had it for a day now and I am enjoying it a lot. The single player is much better than in the first, should be a nice distraction till user made content starts coming out. After a bit of playing with the camera settings I got it to run well at 1280x1024 on near max graphics. I remember the first one having a similar problem with camera lag when it first came out too so maybe this can be fixed in a patch.

It can I'm pretty sure. I have seen two people in a server playing it online, Didn't try to join though. It also says the campaign is good for 1-4 players when you start it.

multiplayer can only allow up to 4 players

I have seen servers with 15 player limits. And I doubt that is max.

EDIT: Eh, the fact that I got it to run good is probably useless without my system specs. 1gig dc ram, athlon 3500+, evga 7800gt.

4 people playing the main campaign together would be very cool :)

Oh dude... That is FANTASTIC. I was so worried it was just four players max for the game no matter what! I was about to scream.

That is interesting. I'll have to fiddle with it when I get home, though everyone seems ot be saying that for a game that doesn't actually look that great, the requirements are quite high indeed.

The max amount of players is 64, but you need to a pretty good server for that many.

I have preordered the game and it should drop into my mailbox this friday :) .

I am very happy that they got rid of epic levels, they where there due to popular demand not due to an actual need for the game. Not to mention they where never revised along with the rest of the rules.

I am not playing this game until the fix the performance issues. I have it turned on low low settings, and it looks like absolute shit, and it is still very laggy in the first room you start in.

My brother got this through the door yesterday. He didn't have much time to play it, but he asked me if i could mess around with the settings and find some kind of middle ground between an actual frame per second and not looking like a pile of arse.

His system is an amd64 @ 2.35, 1gb ram, 6800GT (410 core:1.07 mem) and i too as a number of you are, are shocked at how badly this game runs on a perfectly reasonable system. Firstly, i found that many of the option other than res, draw distance and shadows actually made any impact on the fps, secondly, going from no shadows to medium, let alone full, does more than half your fps, lmao !!

In the end i settled for running it at 1024, no shadows, low draw distance, 2 lights per object and all other options turned on, or on high. This sees around 35-40 fps in the standard camera view in a relatively built up area.

The game is running pretty good on my specs after all, I just had to find the right resolution. The game seems to favor some, but why, I don't know.

Minor spoilers

Anyway, I've screwed up. I'm supposed to get to the docks district in Neverwinter now, but each time, no matter where I load from, I get stuck in the "Loading Module" screen. I've tried multiple saves from around the same time, but all get stuck. Any ideas?

I think I'll wait for one or two patches to fix all this technical shit. I'll be saving my money for MTW2.

Yeah there some pretty bad technical issues. Both of my friends with the game have problems with the skybox when its on their computers. One turned red, the others turned black. Mine was running great, but all of a sudden looking at certain places makes my game a slideshow. It could be anything too, this one part of town, this one door in a dungeon. When this happens I just switch to the top down camera and play like that, not really ideal for me though. I would wait a month or two before you purchase it. But even with all the tech issues im still enjoying it. Even got to try some online co-op which was great.

My comments on performance are all from a patched version of the game. Afaik performance was even worse prior to this. Eeek !

People are complaining about running rigs with 7950 GX2 cards and getting 15 fps odd at medium resolutions and settings. Ouch.

Yeah Stern, I patched it right after install with the huge patch they offer to bring it to v1.01. My technical issues still persist unfortunately. Perhaps future patches will give me better performance because right now I only want to play the incredible FF12 which I bought at the same time because it performs like a dream (of course it does--its a Squeenix console title) and is an all-around awesome game.

I would love to be able to play NWN2 and have it be silky smooth, but right now just trying to get through the swamps right at the beginning of the game it is so choppy that I can't bear it. I also can't bear to turn the settings down much lower. Ah, maybe this will just be one I will put aside until I get the DX10 card next year...:(

shit ..what the hell is it with the games I want to buy and performance issues? Gothic 3 and now NWN2? ..at this rate I wont be buying anything this holiday season till they've patched it to a playable state ...but I so want to play g3 or NWN2

Its generally the publishers who wants to rush the release so much that they dont have time to test the products properly. Atari is definatly not a good publisher IMO.

I am installing the game as we speak, lets see how it works on my comp that could use a better CPU...

The game runs pretty good with decent graphics considering I dont even meet then minimum requirements.

Precisely my thoughts! Gothic 3 wouldn't even start on my computer.

what's your specs? ..funny thing is last year this time I upgraded for oblvion, gothic 3 and NW2 ..and now it doesnt look like it makes a difference what pc I have ;(
