Pauldrons are out. :(

I don't understand why they are removing features from the game like this, or not putting them in from Morrowind.

No beards?! Is this true?

Very lame.. How come they're removing all these things?
I'm not saying that the game will be bad, but all this makes it seem like it might be inferior in comparison to Morrowind in terms of depth imo.
I actually just got back from playing my GOTY vers.

I know. It freaking SUCKS.

When you create a game, you're supposed to keep the things that WORK, and work well, and keep them in the new game, incorporating more as well.

Pauldrons worked well... it was awesome to be able to mismatch your pauldrons like a mother****ing gladiator.

What sucks... is none of this stuff will likely be able to be modded in. Talk about shitty.

I mean, the game will still be good, but this stuff depresses me.

Yeah.
I can understand simplifying the skills, because some of them were pretty useless..
But this, this is infact just dumbing down, not for consolers or PC gamers, just simply dumbing down.
I'm really loosing more and more faith in Bethesda as a dev..
I hope instead of making ES5 even more dumbed down, they'll instead add in some of the features that became lost from the transistion between Morrowind and Oblivion, I'm still getting Oblivion but this IS pissing me off.

Companies look to new games, and instead of creating them more diverse and complex in the sheer amount of things you can do... they simplify it for the sake of appealing and catering to new gamers.

Which is lame. Its like taking a complicated wargame board game, and going from that, and upgrading it into risk. I mean sure, risk is a great game, but thats a HUGE difference from the wargame board game.

Indeed, but I bet some of the features removed, are being done intentionally, so they can be used to "force" people to buy either the expansion packs or the official mods..
I mean, I doubt they're stupid enough to think PC gamers will only be interested in holiday and horse armors mods..

Morrowind rocks, just the only let down is AI. If Morrowind had the RAI like Oblivion, would be unreal.

see...so there's good reason to believe that you can't mix up armor as much as before...

pauldrons part of of cuirass, and next thing you know gauntlets comes in pairs aswell...and boots as parts of leggings...

they've removed spears aswell....not to mention unarmored and medium armor...I really hope they haven't removed anything else that didn't need to be removed...

ok it seems that gauntlets DO come in pairs now.... :(

all the uniqueness of a scavenger character just went out the window....I'm sure there's no robes over armor anymore either...ffs

not to mention that these descisions effect the amount of different enchantments you can have(atleast I hope they've boosted the max spell capacity of the armors now or I'm going to get mighty annoyed)

Maybe to bring them back in x-packs :P
and sell 'em for people

I'm sure someone will mod it, so you 360 people are out of luck

FFS people, we are talking about shoulder pads. Shoulder pads, damnit! They were one of the big fashion mistakes of the 80's.

Yes, I'm sure we're just agonized by the thought of not being able to mix pauldrons because they're such an important part of the game. :|

Well I'm sure that there will be more than just a pauldrons mod...there are a lot of user-made things the 360 users are never going to get

Hmmm... I guess the actual pauldrons will be part of the chest piece. If they didn't have them at all that would suck, because the pauldrons are the "bulky" part of the armor which makes it look like you are actually wearing armor instead of a t-shirt painted with armor textures. :D

So? Pauldrons were in history long before the 80's. Ancient history, my friend.

Think of it this way. You have less loot to collect as a result. Instead of hunting for that desired right gauntlet, all you need is to find one gauntlet. Same with the pauldrons.

I think its very lame.

I want as much random customization as possible. At the VERY least, I want as much as they had in morrowind, for crying out loud! Its supposed to be a bigger, better game!

You guys would have preferred this game be delayed longer to include features such as being able to use single pauldrons, single gloves, etc?

For all you know they were game design decisions made long ago and never intended to be implemented. Perhaps the developers did not like how some kind of armor was handled in Morrowind.

Spears I can tell were removed because of time requirements though. Or perhaps not? Perhaps they decided not to have so many different kinds of weapons for Oblivion (more types means more balance work, and item placements, etc.) so they decided to get rid of spears?

The Mullinator, I think gloves etc might also have been delayed for time reasons.
They might've had severe clipping issues, I don't see why they'd remove it, it was quite popular with people to be able to switch different gauntlets, etc etc as you saw fit.
I bet most likely it'll be in a downloadable patch/official mod, or an expansion pack.
Atleast that's what I'm hoping..
Also, same for spears, I think they'll be an official mod(That you pay for)

I had enough, even If I get my PC back.I wont be getting this game
its a ****in action adventure not a RPG that it should be.

Good for you, I'm still getting the game, I trust PCGs review and I have my 360 CE vers pre-ordered.
It's still an RPG if we're to believe the reviews, but it's definitely been more streamlined to attract more gamers..
But in the end I shouldn't really whine.. The jump ain't nothing new to the ES series..
Morrowind was vastly simplified compared to Daggerfall, and this jump ain't nearly as big as that one, luckily..

I don't believe that guy for one second. I could understand not telling where he got it since he could get the store in trouble, but at least show the back of the box or a screenshot.

Now whats a Pauldron?

It's that armored piece that protects your genitals from being obliterated with a blow to the groin region.

/waits to see if Solaris believes him. :E

If it's true than that really sucks. While I used matching pauldrons in Morrowind most of the time, it was pretty cool when building a new character to find a wicked piece to put on. I also like to have different pauldrons then the type of armor I wear, and apparently they are now part of the curiasses. :(
LoL Raziaar! Someone in the thread said they would castrate themselves if there weren't pauldrons...I guess there won't be any protection without them

Another sad note, gauntlets are rumored to come in pairs too.

I hope it does get modded in. And I will definately NOT pay for it.

Torrenting things which should have been in the ****ing game in the first place for the win.

dekstar.. You won't be able to torrent the mods, sorry mate..
IIRC Bethesda has actually stated they'll use something highly akin to DRMs to protect their mods from piracy..
dekstar, you don't really think Bethesda'd be stupid enough to sell their mods without any form of good copy protection.. Right?
If you actually thought that, then you need a braincheck.:p

Well you can torrent HL2.

That's true I guess, but hopefully Bethesda'll have a pretty good protection..: )

:| This pointless feature removal is rather idiotic on their part...

Not being able to mix and match your armor = ghey.

Don't Bethesda use the same Mod-style as Morrowind? I mean isn't the construction kit just an upgrade from TES3?

Having just found out what Pauldrons are, I am extremely dissapointed. :(

Honestly, I dont really see the big deal.

It's vaguely similiar to a 'what if' city of heroes took out a chunk of their player customization pieces.

Or if EA Games took out the 'higher rank = better guns' of BF2.

Maybe they're just saving more for Expansion pack content.

By the time they release all the content, much of which should have been in the game in the first place(that other developers would have put in, free of charge... for example the guys that created Galciv2), we'll have paid the game's full price once more.
