Putfile finally works for me now.

"Viksaks" by Distisec
Like previous uploads lately, more of a stomping ground for experimentation. No melody, just noises. In any case, I think I'm done with the whole "V" motif and wanna take a break from the Distisec profile.

"Daltrop" by Anasynth
I'm generally not one to drop a 4/4 and make something rave-ish. But what can I say. I thought it was catchy!

"Artifice" by Anasynth
Simple. Has something like a childish quality to it.
Not possible. Now putfile doesn't work for me. The wiki's were working fine before.

Then there is only one solution:

Destroy the internet.

Awesome.

Two new tracks from my pop/rock project.

They basically sound like professional recordings - so give it a listen.

Awesomes. Gonna have some lyrics?

Ok, now putfile works. 'Viksaks' reminds me of 'The Trees.' Intentional?

Mmmm... nope. To be honest, the initial drive behind it was trying to mimic a part of a Squarepusher track. Failed at it hard, but it did familiarize me with a few nifty tricks that I just kept working with.

Artifice told me why I love this particular type of electronic chill out music. The childish, repetitive sounds makes me feel good. They take away all of my concerns and reminds me of the old days. The music is so... happy. I enjoy the rougher sounds and dark styles (Venetian, AFX, Autechre, etc.), but I always find myself coming back to this (Mum, BoC, etc.).

Nothing to do with our tracks/WIPs, but...

Finally, a good emulator is going to come! Rebirth has been a reliable standby, and it doesn't hurt that it's now free. But getting anything really good out of it took a lot of time, which was hampered by a lack of any visible sequencer therefore making a lot of automation a pain in the ass. And while it was great for its time, it sounds quite dated now (that includes its 303 emulation as well).

Audiorealism did a fantastic job with their 303 soft synth, and the ASM is a real treat. When you compare the samples of their new drum machine with that of the originals, it's startling how close they've come to making it sound like the real thing. I want it so bad.

Pretty interesting though not quite my cup of tea with the distorted guitar.

By the way, any of you seen the new media and info on Reason 4? It looks bloody amazing. They even revamped the sequencer! Thank god.

Reason 4 looks absolutely sextastic. So many new goodies... Mmmm...
The sequencer, while sufficient, was one of the things that really needed to be revamped. And while the MClass Suite that came with the third version was a nice addition, what I really wanted was some new instruments and toys. I am so stoked. Can't wait to try some weird stuff with the ReGroove.

Neptune, cool track. I loved how the track just seemed to come into fruition halfway through with those warm, colorful pads. The guitar that lead throughout could use some work though. I think you should try to soften/color it a bit with some filters, or alter the distortion gradually through the track.

I went back to an old track I never quite finished. It utilized Rebirth, which made it impossible to render beyond a sample rate of 44100 without detuning horribly, so I gave up on it. Today I went back and tried a few different things. I rendered the 808 loops in Rebirth then threw them into an NN-XT. I then routed Reason through Ableton so I could use the ABL VST as a 303 replacement.

Has its fair share of issues though. For some damned reason I couldn't render at a decent master volume without it clipping to shit, so I just put it all to max and threw a compressor over it. And I'm sure there are plenty of EQ issues as well. I'm dead tired, so I just said screw it. Maybe I'll deal with them later.

I like it. 'Course, I like most of the stuff you release.

Absinthe, you are the Reason god! The only thing I disliked is that it took a while for it to evolve, but that's just because I'm impatient, nothing wrong with the track! :)
It kept me interested throughout though, which is an accomplishment in itself.

really nice track absinthe.

By the way, the new reason is looking pretty fresh, the new sequencer looks like a more-or-less straight rip off the ableton live sequencer, which definitely isn't a bad thing. Like the look of the new arpeggiator thingie too.

Pretty cool, Cerpin! My tastes generally don't venture too much outside of electronic music, but I liked that. I particularly like when that subdued, organ-sounding instrument comes into play. Only thing I didn't like was having the hi-hats panned to the left the entire time. My ears tend to dislike asymmetry, at least if I don't think there's enough countering it on the other side.

That was kind of the idea, to create some tension there. I'm glad you liked it!

My school class made this song, a cover of an old gospel song. I only have a minor part of the choir in the end chorus but it's a pretty cool song. We had lots of fun making it.

i'm staying at my mum's place atm and leeching of her computer, i'm downloading reason so maybe i'll do a few tracks with bome's mouse keyboard :)

edit: a little housey thingie: http://media.putfile.com/Derelic7---Domestic-Disturbance

done with really shit speakers, can't hear any low end at all basically. :p

"Krebs" by Distisec

Experimentation fairly reminiscent of Autechre's ep7. It's a continuous loop where I'm playing with different effects through Combinator modulation.

I liked that. It felt quite pale at the start but the pattern got really hypnotic by 4 minutes. can imagine quite a bit of routing went through that.

I liked it, but I'm not expecting a response.

That's really good, and I see exactly where you're coming from with the ep7 comparison. Left Blank comes to mind first. :)

Have you links to any others? Edit - ah, you've posted material before. I'll check that out.

This is an M3U playlist for a few of my tracks if anybody would like to listen. I'd describe most of it as ambient/experimental electronic music. "Experimental" sounds kind of pretentious, though. Playlist.

Started fooling around with a piano patch in Reason, got some stuff I really liked, and kept developing things. 5/4 time sig.

I quite like it but I think it could use another instrument or two.

the music for airports patch am I right? ;)

Lovely track. The jungle pattern kicks in with one of my most favourite chord progressions. The strings are quite vivid and realistic, did you use a particular preset or tweak something yourself, if so what'd you use?

Airports patch? I don't understand.

The strings are presets with some EQing. Thanks though. I really do like it. The beginning feels like Drukqs and the end stretch with the drums glitching feels like Flim or Girl/Boy, which is really cool. I am really proud of it. I really like this kind of music that I'm making. DnB with orchestral type influences, like Venetian except a bit more tame.

I like Evasive Action. You really nailed those DnB elements.

music for airports is a brian eno album full of the downtuned piano sounds that you used, there's a preset in reason called that.

I see.

Preset I used is a combi called "Distant Grand" which uses the "Old Grand" nnxt patch.

"Distiseptic" by Distisec

I'm a tad messed at the moment, so I don't really know what I'm doing here. I wanted something that sounded sick and corrosive. Like a real violent stomach virus. So take what you will from it.

"Germer" by Distisec

Sort of a compilation of some of the tricks I've been practicing with recently. Namely: Obligatory Combinator modding, automation of comb filters, automation of amp delay values on drum sets, Subtractor perc kits, and some other things that can't come to mind right now. I like it a lot, but the real test is if it withstands sobriety.

EDIT: Excellent track, Vegeta! I really like the angle you're going at it with. It sounds like a calmer, yet more melodic version of "Girl/Boy".

Rarely venturing into the tracks/WIP thread, Stigmata unexpectedly and boldly states:

Out of this entire thread I've only listened to Absinthe's last two tracks. Distiseptic is eclectic and interesting, yet ultimately lacking. Germer starts out slow and unexpectedly becomes enthralling and driving, yet completely peaceful.

Good show, good show.
