So I'm replaying HL2, as I haven't in a good long while. I raised the question once before, but it wasn't fully brought to attention.

I'm interested in peoples' opinions/thoughts as to how the resistance got a hold of Freeman's suit in the first place. At the end of HL1, the Gman doesn't confiscate the suit. "I think you've earned it," he says. Kleiner confirms it's your old suit. "I see your old HEV suit still fits you like a glove... at least the glove parts, anyway... I've made some slight modifications to your suit." So it's not just some other suit.

Thoughts, or am I just being facetious?

Gman is a perv? Hmm, but really, that seems like a continuity error.

Well, I always thought it was that the Gman went to the lab and gave it to them. That was always a thought but now I think that they managed to smuggle another HEV suit out of Black Mesa.

"I see your OLD HEV suit"

Says it all.

You dont know that Gman didnt confiscate it.

Yea but you dont know who GMan really is he could be working for the Resistance. :|

This could very well be the case. We don't know how far Valve thought through with the "oh noes how did they get Gordon's suit!" predicament.

EDIT: I hate to be a theory-tard, but this continuity issue helps support that Gman either delivered the suit to the resistance, or left it in a position where they would recover it.

And maybe this was a sign that Gordon will come, and that's why everybody is expecting him.

You don't need his help.

Oh god, I giggled like a little girl...

Do you really care about looking bad on an internet forum? Think before you type something out and you won't have to worry about it.

Though I am a hypocrite.

See? I just did it. :D

I'm disappointed at the horde of annoying and irrelevant posts which appear to be some attempt at humour in this thread. I think the opening post brought up a valid point and I was hoping there might be some sort of discussion that might have risen from it. Personally, I never noticed, but it does raise the question as to where Gordon's suit went. I always assumed that Kleiner was using a figure of speech and the Mark V was a completely different suit than the one used in Half-Life.

It could be a clue to how the Gman and the Resistance were working together.

I just thought we'd got the point where all that was as clear as the vagueries of the Half-Life story allowed (we know the G-Man and Eli were in Cahoots, we always knew that the G-Man met with Cubbage, that Breen knew about Gordon's contracts), and like every other aspect of story discussion, it's been exhausted to the extent that we need to make stuff up to provide any kind of discussion, until Episode Three comes along and drip-feeds us more.

Uh...I'm really not understanding how everyone in this thread seems to have forgotten that the G-man has been in regular contact with the resistance. He gave Kleiner the suit. That's it. What's all this "continuity error" talk?

G-Man = Gordon-Man

Lol i worked that out a LONG time ago :)

My personal theory is about Gman, is that somehow gman is Gordon but he has like somehow gone back in time (I know its dumb) to protect his younger self from harm, and try to lead him to a better path than the one he took.
I mean have you seen when Gordon doesnt have his glasses on and no beard?
He looks very much like Gman.

The problem is, we can't take that as concrete detail. I'm not saying I disagree, but it is just a theory based on other examples in the game (in other words, since Gman has been in direct contact with resistance members, one can conclude that he gave Kleiner the suit).

Keep in mind Jet, this is not a direct slant at you mate.

Thanks a lot, I'll use it in the future. *bookmarks*

Yeh, but we will never get proof, and Reflex, I don't think we will find out more about Gman because that is one of the series' selling points (not that it needs it :D)
His mysteriousness (is that even a word?) keeps me and others interested.
I hope he stays the way he is.

Possibly the g-man handed it over as a token of good faith.
