I was watching Real Time with Bill Maher and a very interesting opening interview he had, talking to this guy about C Street. You know, Mark Sanford, John Ensign etc etc.

Very disturbing stuff.

Tell me what you guys think of this.

EDIT: Link changed.

While I do disagree with most of Bill Maher's claims on religion, I think he makes lots of interesting points otherwise.

Also, I can't say I care for The Family. I find their views pretty much a misinterpretation of the Bible as has been previously stated.

Uhg, literal bible interpretations. Even worse than the already awful metaphorical intepretations.

even being a christian, this scares the crap out of me. Everything I've learned about the "Family" is sickening. I hope we can progress as a nation and not regress into a theocracy.

Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely

^ I gues that explains why God is such a dickwad.

That is actually quite terrifying. How can people honestly believe that?

The Family is led by Doug Coe and most widely known for organizing the National Prayer Breakfast, at which every President of the United States since President Dwight D. Eisenhower, including President Barack Obama in 2009, has spoken.

That's the douche bag... hosting ****ing presidential prayer breakfasts.

The Fellowship is associated with many influential American leaders, including many current and former Senators and members of the United States Congress, executive branch officials, military officers, including several Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the heads of humanitarian aid organizations, as well as foreign leaders and ambassadors.

Look how ****ing well it saturated the political scene.

The Fellowship has been the subject of controversy for its secrecy, involvement in sex scandals, ties to third-world dictators and oppressive regimes, and approving references to Adolf Hitler, terrorist and 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden, Cambodian despot Pol Pot, and the Mafia. It reportedly is built on the "Hitler Concept," which is a covenant amongst a leadership cadre comprised of members of a political avant garde.

These are quotes from wikipedia by the way.

A genuine conspiracy - if this was fictional we'd all laugh it off as anvilicious.

But in fact "morality is for the little people" seems to be what most politicians believe in their heart of hearts.

Creepy stuff. Might get that book when it hits paperback.
