Imagine this scene. It's just came to me, and it's very much possible actually. Imagine a tornado passing over a large fuel line, or fuel facility, and the tanks and pipes rip. Even better, imagine if an oil well explosion occurs over a tornado. (There are many oil wells in Tornado Alley btw). And then of course, enough fuel is sucked into the funnel and there's a spark.

Theoretically, that would lead to a large fiery burning tornado. The Wind would only fuel the fire by providing oxygen for combustion, with the fuel line providing a steady supply of fuel. Might be a load of bullshit, but I just watched this awesome Discovery Channel show on destruction, and the inspiration to this thread came about.

Firestorm baby!

Actually I don't know.

But a firestorm would be terrible... a fire with so much intensity that it creates its own wind.

And... fire whirls are created in them sometimes because of the wind that is spawned!

But, wouldn't a super intense fire whirl, like one with fuel mixed in the tornadoes body itself that is ignited... destabilize itself?

I don't know anything about science... so I don't know the answer!

Th... This is really creepy, considering that I just wached a film about Pompeii and there's a really ominous rain going on outside, with thunder and everything.

Don't worry. If it's water it's not fire rain.

How about dropping a hydrogen bomb into the eye of a hurricane?

If fuel got into a tornado, it would be drawn out over a huge area and split up into lots of little droplets. This would greating increase the surface area, causing it to explode, rather than just burn. Similar to putting water in a chip pan fire, I think.

Bloody hell. This isn't real, is it?
